I need to connect a wire on my aftermarket sat nav to the speed signal on my GS (manual says speed detection circuit). Does anyone know where this circuit is that I can tap into, or has a wiring diagram they can decipher and tell me please?

This will be the wire that powers the odometer. I have not been able to find a wiring diagram for the 4200 bit I do have one for the 3200. What would be good is to find put what the speed circuit picks up on.

Let us know how you get on and if you can get a wiring diagram for 4200 it would be great to have one.

The 3200 has std becker sockets which include a speed sensor wire in them - pin A1 (GAL). Not sure if Granturismo is the same but it's easy to tell if you can get to the rear of the radio unit.

At a guess, the 4200 must have one as well, given the speed dependent volume, and the standard ISO sockets at the back of the NIT.

Which pin is A1, dunnah1?

Pin A1 is as shown here:

I did a small upgrade on my 3200 to get a basic Sat Nav by swapping Becker head unit to a Traffic Pro. The speed signal controls the volume increase with speed but it also allows the nav to work in tunnels etc.. which is nice :geek3:.

I also tried a bluetooth module into socket C3 Pins 18-20 so that I could play tinternet and music from my tablet & phone. It was OK but there was some interference so I swapped it for a headphone jack plug which works really well. Only draw back is the loose cable in the arm rest and fiddling around to connect phones etc... I may try a better bluetooth module one day, the 99p chinese version I was experimenting with may have had a few limitations.

Good thinking! My GS came with the sat nav upgrade, although the head unit had been changed. I'll check out that pin and see if it works. Easy fix hopefully. Thanks guys.

Thanks, dunnah1.

Interesting. I didn't realise all those inputs were part of the ISO connectors.
