Good times indeed Darren
I'm just utterly astounded it was 43 years ago
I went to Mallory park to watch the transatlantic on my FS1e , a lad who'd smashed his bike up the week before went on the back of a 250
We went round the pits after the race , when we got back his ride had ****** off so he looked at me with teary eyes , I couldn't leave him there so we hatched a plan to get back the 30 miles to kettering
He walked out the gate and I left 5 minutes behind him and picked him up , we got about a mile before the blue lights lit the hedgerows up
I didn't know his last name but I did know it wasn't what he told the copper , he spouted some story about having passed his test so he was my instructor , i just stood there looking at the floor, he let us go, we got back to Kettering and I dumped him on the outskirts of town
Copper had let us go with a producer , I was OK but he turned up at the station with somebody else's licence , obviously it didn't work
I eventually got 3 points for carrying an unlicensed passenger, the court initially refused my guilty plea because they considered there to be mitigating circumstances but I really didn't want to take a day off work and ride 30 miles to Leicester on a fizzer for them to decide I was guilty anyway so pleaded guilty again.
