IMHO You're probably better using outoor speakers such as Polks and a separate BT amp.

I've gone even worse that I have a Volumio in the server cupboard that drives two channels of a Rotel 6 channel power amp and down into the garden. I put some quick connects on the cables and sealed them into little tupperware pots so when we go out, I use decent indoor speakers and kit. Takes about 2 minutes to connect them up.

YMMV

And if you need an amp as well, I can heartily recommend one of these:

I have one connected to the iMac in the office driving some Scandyna minipods. Crazy good for the price

Not really audiophile related but I am creating an additional outdoor space (very similar to this https://www.sunslifestyle.com/shop/gazebo/rota/rota-3m-x-6m-gazebo/) and want to be able to listen to music.

So I need recommendations for permanent outdoor speakers. I am not prepared to tolerate low quality sound but fully appreciate that I am going to have to compromise (from my home set up) to an extent. I am thinking standalone (i.e. integrated controls and amp) powered Bluetooth speakers are the way to go.

I have found these https://audioinstallations.co.uk/product/pair-5-25-bluetooth-weatherproof-wall-mount-speakers-white/ but don't imagine they will offer the sound I want.

Any ideas? Most of the hi-fi solutions I have found don't seem to offer bluetooth connectivity.
SONOS Move might be worth a look especially if you have any other SONOS kit in the house.

Just add a blue tooth gadget attachd to one of the inputs of teh amp - they can be as cheap or expensivie as you want

I've got one of these attatched to my ancient audiolab and works well. Son mightlity impressed he can play is stuff throuygh my system and make alot of noise!

I am trying to do away with the need for an amp and am really looking for a standalone solution that can be left outside and controlled independently (from outside).

Mate got a record cleaner when he purchased a new deck, industrial level thing but it certainly brings back the records to outstanding quality. He plans to bring it over there when lockdown is over so that i can clean all my records - to be honest I think he just wants me to get back into vinyl so we can share some of the old stuff we both have.
If only we had known before you moved to Ireland and I moved to Wales lol could easily have borrowed mine when we lived about 15 miles from each other!

I have one of those, it is a decent little gadget for the price. And like you it keeps my offspring happy as lets them connect their etch-a-sketch crApples to my old fashioned kit....
