well done for trying this , and for posting. Have driven in ICE mode only for short distances but now tempted to try it on a transit motorway journey.
The "conventional wisdom" on internet forums is not always 100%
Same. Sometimes I collect my mum which is 300+ miles round trip mainly boring roads. Unable to wang it on the return leg so that is the opportunity to test it. Pretty sure ICE mode changes gear at crushingly low RPM. |-|I've never used ICE mode but may give it a go on a longer run ..... but then again I didn't buy this car for fuel efficiency.
In all seriousness, why would you buy a Maser and not want to hear that beautiful exhaust note ALL the time?
Because it is effing annoying on a motorway. Try not to forget that this is a Grand Tourer and that some people use their car as a daily driver rather than as a 1000 mile a year car sunny day toy.
Totally agree on the ban though
I like the noise when I'm having fun, but it's quiet enough on a long journey, so I appreciate both.Is it only me then who would randomly drop a cog or two to hear the noise?
This is not resistance. You should see some of the other notorious posts!Definitely some resistance on this post! The reason for this post was to demonstrate that the car has many strings to its bow. Including 30+ mpg from a mighty V8.
When driving the car in a spirited fashion I wouldn’t even measure the MPG - not relevant in that scenario.
The post shows that using one of the cars features and driving at cruise control 70ish mph you can achieve 500 miles+ out of a tank. Ideal for road trips etc.
Happy Wednesday!!!
The painting of zee fallen Madonna with zee big b@@bies, is it safe?We are the Resistance

@MattGall283 I am mostly taking the mick. The older cars do not have the same advancements in engine management or gear ratios that are sympathetic to fuel consumption so it is very impressive that Maserati figured out how to nearly double the MPG from pretty much the same engine in a heavier/bigger car than the M138 tipos.
Although here is a question for GT owners - would you sacrifice 5-10 of those MPG for a Granturismo that has enough power to actually pull away from a 4200/GS?
