Just bought a HP inkjet printer which was cheaper than replacing the drum on my laser (half price). Signed up for a deal with HP where for less than a fiver a month, they will send new ink when it is running low. And the first 6 months are free. I went off HP a long time ago but it’s not a bad deal. Better than 150 quid every six months for new toner in the laser.

Some time last year I went through all of the options, fully intending to return to a colour laser. However I couldn't make the maths work on any of them! I hate being held to ransom by ink companies, paying more than the price of gold for a dribble of colour. Anyway I ended up going for the Epsom ET-2720 which has big simple tanks of EK Y M C and a replaceable print head that is chipped. This irked a bit after my last brush with Epsom was so costly but it was head and shoulders past the others from the simple point of being able to pour almost reasonable value large quantities of ink in and forget about it. Except you can't; to keep the head fresh you need to print something in colour every couple of weeks or at least clean the head.
