Apparently the guv'nor has signalled to bankers that BoE is prepared to prolong bond buying…

Pretty outrageous. He makes a public comment and, several hours later, officials at BoE are briefing price-sensitive information to a select group of bankers. On par with Kwasi Kwarteng briefing his hedge fund pals in advance of and after the mini budget.

GBP/USD update: I wonder how many people are aware that GBP/USD closed stronger yesterday than it was before the mini-budget. The press certainly won’t report this, but the (1 hour) chart below is incontrovertible. Not saying any more than this - don’t shoot the messenger!

The thing is, a dollar that is too strong will stop foreign investment anywhere that uses the dollar as a benchmark.
I've just had a deal with a Brookfield offshoot go down the pan due to the fact that (combined with interest rate hikes) the dollar is too strong and makes the project 20% more expensive than it was in June.
And therefore the numbers just don't stack up any more.

Of course they’ll extend.

The game all along… Truss and Kwarteng aren’t as stupid as they seem. Or they are, but the people behind them aren’t.

Whether that is right for the country, or for the majority rather than an elite, is a different question.

Pound up by 1.2% today. FTSE100 down by 0.8% i.e. 0.7 x 1.2%, so business as usual. Looks like everyone is waiting for the mini budget to be diluted away.

If it is not intruding (if it is, then do tell me to b*gger off), are these replacements on your boat or your new boat? Just asking as I've started to become curious about the yachting world, being a complete greenhorn.
Not intruding at all.
It’s a new boat for us, not a new boat tho. I had one many years ago in the ME but never felt confident with it- you could buy one and drive it away. No training!
This time around I’ve done a course, got licenced and now I’m a legal hazard to everyone In my path.
Its not a yacht, it’s a powerboat….so less skill. Suits me Sir.
Nearly bought a Maser Convertible instead but thot, nup. We live in an incredible part of the world and the boating scene is something we should all experience.
Besides, it’s never wrong to take Profits and I’ve done ok……despite rumours I’m **** hot at what I do ;)

I’ve never seen anything as mental as a fork lift, lifting a fully loaded, fuelled boat out of an ocean.
Go for it, life’s too short…..unlike this, 10m of sexiness.

Easier to park than a modern Qp.
