I have decided to go over to the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta from Pirelli P zero as i think that when i have to change again i may well save a few ££.
The rears were budget tyres anyway and they had to go in the bin, but the fronts are almost new Pirreli in 235/40 R18 Y rated.
I am looking for around £180 for the pair and think that this is a good price for near new P zero tyres.
Delivery can be arranged at cost.
PM me if interested

Aren't Pirelli P zero a better tyre than the Vredestein?

They were 8/9 years ago Andy in fact Vreddies weren't about then , but things have changed and pirelli have stood still whilst a few other makes have crept up and are in contention Vreddies on the stats out perform them as of last year

That's what I thought too, certainly recommended by Maserati for the 3200...

Agree with you Chris that was the original set up and advised handbook criteria , Maserati as do other Manufacturers set up deals when producing cars , same as shell helix is the advised oil for the Gransports , but other oils get produced as thing progress and may superceed the required spec , same in the what tyres case

Most performance tyre centres i have spoken to , are saying that for the last year or two vredstien have surpassed the falkens and are becoming one of the most sought after tyres because of their all round weather performance so much so that Camskill cant get enough of them and get weekly container deliveries

There are some really good tyres about these days...The Mich pilot sport tyres on my M3 CSL were £1300 a set...I was recommended Falcon at £700 and they were just as good.

Vredestein are not complete strangers to Maserati. Certainly the 185/60 R17 was specified as the emergency spare wheel option on the 2006 QP.

Cheers Loz - I've just ordered a pair of Falken 452s for my rears - I know they're not going to be as good as the Goodyear F1 or the Vredstein - but given the sort of bog standard driving I mostly do, I thought they'd be ok (and cheap - which I know ought not to be a consideration, but is!). My current rears are Goodyear F1s, but the inner half of the tread on the nearside rear tyre is completely bald - I mean as smooth as a baby's bottom, see your face in it bald. The outside half looks fine - so presumably my tracking/suspension geometry needs sorting to?

Chris not so sure..I have them on the back of the M5 and really rate them...I wouldn't go back to F1's after using them.

Falkens....lots of the M3 CSL chaps I know are also going over to them as their everyday rubber. Great tyre and great value. Makes you wonder how the 'big' boys can get away with charging so much for much longer.

Andy, I am due to have them fitted all round, so I should not be concerned at all then, no?

That's good to know :) I'll be getting some for the fronts too when the F1s go on them as well.

I spoke to my local garage (DBM) about geometry, but they said they only do 4 wheel tracking - and recommended tyrespot (which is a tyre place near me too). I rang them, and asked about setting up the suspension geometry, and the chap said;

' yeah we've got a new expensive machine in that does all that. Have you got the settings?'

to which I replied yes, and I that I could get the necessary shims from eurospares, as it's a Maserati 3200.

'Shims?' he said,

'Er...yes' said I, ' I think you need them to do the adjustments'

'Oh - do they have eccentric bolts then?'

Conversation went downhill from here...

Can anyone help a troubled vet?

Only kidding Matt - cowsurgeon is a mix of part of my surname and the word surgeon (which I am) - a username hangover from medical school, when I thought I was cooler than I really am - although it's a good one, as it's never taken by other users!
