Hi all

Just picked up the Maser from Feli at Sunnyside garage:
£420 all in for the fluids and labour of the full service (so annual plus mileage)
Combined with the service kit from David Askew all in at £250

£670 total
I think the air filter was a tad overdue....

Old filter.jpg

Other identified jobs:
NSR Damper needs replacing. I'll get the pair refurbed from David Askew at £240
New rear discs and pads. Discs are £100ish each. Pads I need to hunt down as Opie have stopped supplying Ferodo.
NSR brake caliper bleed nipple needs replacing. Dunno if I should get a refurb caliper or just use that one.

Other than that it's all good :) Cosmetics next :(

Understanding wife to let that mucky old thing come into the house. If the caliper working OK just replace the nipple mate.

What was included in the service kit at £250? Didn't know Dave Askew did such things!
So annual and mileage, what was done, or not done!?

Wow, C that made my filter look top notch and that wasn't even in its housing! I think Frank's suggestion is a fair one that doesn't look like it has ever been changed let alone every year....

Thats why I love the service I got from Emble. Photos of the car on the ramp, wheels off and new/old filter in place as well as the fluids shown draining out and all the old parts free to take home on collection

Service kit was belts, plugs and air and oil filters

The only think we didn't do out of the combined list was the pollen filter, which I did last year.

This is the list we were working from:
Auxilliary belts: Inspect / Adjust. Replace every 3 years. (No idea when it was changed last so might well be an idea)
Engine Oil and Filter
Cooling system connections and lines: Want these carefully checked. We're looking at getting silicon replacements made as the originals are horridly expensive
Air filter: Replace
Fuel injection connections and lines
Ignition system cables and connections: Inspect
Spark Plugs: Replace
Active charcoal and lambda sensors: Replace at least every 4 years. No issues with lambda sensors that I know of. Charcoal filter is probably not a big issue?
Air injection system: lines and connection valves: Replace
Blow by system: Inspect
Fuel emissions control system, lines connections and valves: Inspect
Differential and gearbox oil: Should be replaced at 68.5 so let's do that.
Cambiocorsa system fluid level: Inspect / check
Hydraulic sterring fluid (drain if necessary): Inspect and check level.
Engine coolant level: Inspect
Brake fluid level: Check, drain if necessary
Brake system lines callipers connections: Inspect
Handbrake Operation: Inspect
Brake dashboard warning light: Inspect
Brake discs and pads
Joints for front and rear suspension
Steering system components, joint protection, rack boots on the steering wheel levers and on the axle shafts.
Tightening of screws nuts and bolts, including exhaust system.
Air conditioning oil level

Make sense?

What's the news with the silicon hose set Newton?
Have you a supplier copying a set of original hoses?
Would certainly be interested in a set myself!

Certainly interested, but depending on cost and time requirement to cough up. I really need the brakes sorted, then the dampers. Mrs Catman's 147 needs more tyre and then it's Christmas and travel card renewal time.....

No prices yet, first fit is imminent, I need to be back on the road it has been too long!! As soon as I have a working set I'll get the pricing sorted and let everyone know. This will be a truly full set with all the high pressure hoses including small bore to the header tank included with clips. At present there are two variants behind the engine with the T feeder to the heater matrix with either an all rubber that flops about and sits on the bell housing or the metal tube earlier option like mine had. This looks very susceptible to corrosion or fatigue failure, we are looking to substitute with an off the shelf high quality stainless steel short T piece part and three hoses. The three hoses will be shaped to be pre-stressed to better support the T piece, preventing any chance of rubbing.

Also looking into Aviation (waterless) coolant as an option, does anyone use it or has anyone used it in anything?

Evans I assume.

Lots of talk in Triumph circles using it.
Not sure about using it in my Stag, it's not as efficient as water and you get no warning like water something is wrong....no clouds of steam!

In the Maserati...don't think the reduced efficiency would be a problem, not really thought about it to be honest!

Dunno about the efficiency reduction. These engines seem to put a lot of heat out. They warm up much faster than (for example) a 24v V6 Alfa lump.

What's the benefit supposed to be?

Hi
If you are still looking for rear discs and pads, best price I could find for immediate delivery was AP Motor store who have couple of different wed sites (e.g. apbrakedisc.co.uk)
For 3200 the Ferrrari 550 discs were £81+VAT and a set of Ferodo FDB 998 pads were £37.50+VAT

Thanks, Ian.

How did you find the Ferodo's on AP's site? I can't get anything other than Brembo?

Hi
I think I rang them up for the disc and they said they could do the Ferodo's too.
Not sure but got one bill with both bits on so they must have /had them.
