Just watched the movie again for what must be the 5th time as it's currently on Sky to promote the F1 season I guess. I still think it's a fantastic fim and can't help but think that when he's sat in his Williams on the grid at Imola, he knows he's not going to survive the race. It's a weird moment.

If you haven't seen the film, it's a must watch in my book. Senna has to be he best there ever was.

Controversial or no ?

always forget to find it on ebay...is there a special dvd version, worth searching for?

There's a special edition blue ray version that's worth getting. It comes with a iTunes key as well so you can download a version to iPad etc.

Only watched it once, the Mrs bought the blue ray version for me and I watched the full uncut version.
Compelling viewing, amazing where they got the footage from the driver briefings from, and that they where filmed at the time, puts an all different angle on the events leading up to his death.

Just showing my age, Blox! For me, Clark is the best I've ever seen (but obviously a different era of cars), and Rindt, Schumacher and of course, Senna would be up there too.

i'm expecting it to come, as i ordered it last night.

don't know what my feelings will be, cause he was one of my childhood heroes, after Ritchie Blackmore and Ian Gillan maybe..

Saw his accident live on tv, and was schocked by his loss, for two days i was very sad, i even cried.

Same here Nikos, was a very very sad weekend...
I was watching the qualifying on Saturday where sadly Roland Ratzenberger lost his life...
then Ayrton on race day...

I was 14 when he died but i remember where i was and i was sad also....was in cyprus where my cousin was a big fan, me not so much, but with him being upset i learned a lot about senna and also felt for him so much....

Someone i know says that when he was on the grid waiting for the race to start he thought he would die...watching the dvd, i feel he knew it himself...

Iteresting section where they touch upon the 'dark forces' at play in knobbling him for Prost's victory I remember at the time being perplexed at some of the decissions that were played out... again we saw it not so long ago with other drivers... I suppose it is the old adage about absolute power corrupts absolutely... These days it is old Bernie grinding the mill but how long before he has to pass on the mantle and then to who????

Senna and Prost collided at the 1989 Grand Prix at Suzuka. Senna rejoined the race and won but was later disqualified and suspended effectively costing him the World Title. The implication was that FIA President, Jean-Marie Balestre (a fellow Frenchman) favoured Prost and pushed the decision in his favour. Have to say, the film does tend to support this view......but then, it is about Senna.
