if you can afford to lose 20k as a drop in the ocean then invest it and take your chances that you may lose the lot or a good chunk of it, stocks/shares, gold etc etc scare the **** out of me mainly because because I don't understand all that stuff, personally speaking you cant go far wrong with bricks and mortar and/or a well bought rare sought after classic car, failing that just leave in the bank/building society

I bought a 306 GTi-6 for buttons a couple of years ago and it is doing OK so far. Not big numbers granted but has gone up 300% so far.

More than I earn in the same time in interest on 25x the value invested.

Current issue should help ;)

Nice work... thanks.....I'll take a look. Cracking little car. I had one new as company car in 97.
I really want one but I fear I’m going to miss the boat (no spare disposable). Passed over a Cat Deeley that had been absolutely worshipped since for a grand. Old editor has it now...

That's a shame....not many decent ones left, not many left original and nit many with great history/documentation. Stumbled across this one which is all of the above and snapped it up quick.

I would say there are still a couple around it is just getting lucky finding them.

The current issue top 40 cars to invest (last months) has a great piece on the GTI-6 as it does the Corrado which is their number 2 choice.

The thing with the MkI is that my frame of reference is different; trying to put it delicately. Whenever I’ve driven one the overriding thought was just now terrible most of the cars of its era have been to drive for this to have been epoch-shifting. The steering is heavy to the point of obstruction, and as for the brakes... I well remember test driving one to buy (I’m a sucker for Giugiaro design... hence the Maser coupes), setting off at 30mph, pressing the brake and finding nothing there, just as we were sailing into the A406 at rush hour. So as a driving experience I’ve never really been that impressed by MkIs.
But this is a generational thing, really. I’m sure a younger me would be appalled by my GTA’s over-talkative steering wheel, which I happen to love, or the fact you have to wring out my Twin Spark 166 to make it shift in an era of turbos and always on torque EVs...

The new issue has a three-car trip to France in GTIs, which I wrote. Rockits might like the final result ;)

You need to drive mine , the brakes are great and steering not at all heavy. There are so many dogs out there that is the problem.

Buy gold and or silver....become your own central bank.
Itll position you well for Brexit uncertainties and when the next financial crisis comes you’ll be glad you did.
Excellent average returns in GBP
I did buy gold some time ago but then I split with my ex misses and had to sell it all to pay her out. I was buying 1oz Kruggerands at £350 a coin. Oh how I wish I hadn't had to sell them.
