Always done it to all my cars... use Autosol. Very satisfying.
Brilliant - I'll get some of that!

Presumably the Autosol seals it after you've cleaned it? What do you use to get the carbon deposits off?

I used a general purpose cleaner first, then polished using Autosol before finishing with glass cleaner to get the polish residue off. This was suggested to me by a valeter and did work very well.

My old pops who was a repsected toolmaker and engineer , Used to say to clean anything properly to have to remove all the dirt , looking at the insides you have some way to go , good job we got 3 more weeks lockdown , ;)
The top photo is the before one, I was surprised how much of it did come off from the inside

Bit quicker than my toothbrush idea Dave , now i need you to lay path marker rocks i metre apart and paint them all white , then tomorrow i'l set a new agenda at 06.30
Reminds me of how the Boers slaughtered the British in South Africa...they snook out in the night and put marker posts in the ground so they New the distances their weapons were effective at....brits just kept on marching up to them and wondered why they were all getting killed before they could engage....then somebody thought, this plank of wood is in an odd spot......kerching....too late....

I‘ve been very lucky and visited Isandlwana, Rorkes Drift and the Boer War battlefields. The Spion Kop was an eye opener; the trenches the Brits dug before dawn are now their graves and you can follow the shape around the hard, stones plateau. At one end of the plateau is a patch of verdant growth of non-native plants. This, apparently, is from the feed given to the teams of horses employed in recovering the British wounded. The real tragedy is that the action need not have been fought; the Brits could have bypassed the Hills and left the Boers isolated on the top.

We lived in SA for 5 years but unfortunately never got to travel around that much.

The Air Force paid for me to go on an ‘expedition’ and for that I’m eternally grateful! We went hiking for a week in the Draakensbergs, battlefield tours for a week and another week doing other enjoyable things. It cost a very reasonable £500 for air travel, accommodation, food and internal transport for 3 weeks. We later found out that £350 of that went into the beer fund! Happy, happy days!
