What would you pay for a unique grill , complete copy of the plastic one you have now ( or a slight variation of ) the one you have now , this has crossed my mind several times , more so when i revisit pics of the panini museum cars , i really would love to have a solid robust grill with a larger trident similar to the early 3500GT ............................i consulted a friend who has a couple of cnc machines and he reckons he could carve one from a single billet complete with large trident motif .....................no idea of cost but i suspect a billet of that size would be around £120 plus the machine time

Makes sense....wouldn’t ever need a replacement again...

Can either make with an alluminium billet , which will be cheaper and you could polish until your hearts content , or stainless , but i think stainless would cost prohibitive as a billet

The machining costs are going to be pretty high with aluminium because of the time to do it but they’ll be astronomical for matching that from a stainless billet.

For a one of the cnc time probably wont be too much of an issue , once the original is scanned and programmed its just matter of switching the machine on and monitoring occasionally , he's a mate and showed interest and would probably be out of normal production hours , be nice to have something rather unique that resembles the grills of days gone by

If you’re not paying for machine time then costs are a bit irrelevant, stainless is an **** though

Clearing out my loft this morning and came across a couple of items which the forum might be interested in. When I had my QP, I managed to identify the red crinkle paint that Maserati use on their cam covers ( c€35) so it's an exact match in colour and texture plus a leather conditioning kit from the actual leather supplier to Maserati based in Italy. Cost around €75 per kit but its extremely good stuff for your leather.
Anyway hope this might help in the future.
If you Google the names they are all available direct from the manufacturers in Italy.
