ill add by saying yes, the sport models but dont really excite me enough to go buy one, they less reliable than italian cars and cheaply made....
my fav ones are the R5 turbo and the alpine........did see a clio v6 the other day must say it was pearl yellow and i did like that.....

The Alpine A110, that is quite a special car, i do have a soft spot for them, would like to drive the monte carlo rally stages in one of those. 5 Turbo, bit of a gem, a classic hot hatch, just a shame so many have been ruined by horrible modifications.

Clio V6, i do like a lot, lucky to see a Liquid Yellow ome Dem, only 18 yellow ones in the u.k.

Build quality not the best but i would definately have a Megane R26R, everytime i see a pic of one, just makes me want to jump in and drive, would also happily buy a Clio 182 Trophy, hhmmmm, lets see what happens in 18 months time :)

Affirm. Handled like a three legged cow in a sandpit but was very comfortable and spacious. A top notch dog carrier.

The Megane and Clio Sport are brilliant performance cars....not that well built and all a bit too plastic in inside....Great to drive never the less .... Alpine A610 was a great car and very underated.

I part exchanged a mk2 Clio v6 when I bought the gransport, great fun but very twitchy and not as fast as it looked. I've had a 172 cup from new and it's a brilliant little car, very quick, great handling. Better in most ways than the v6 was, just not as interesting. I've heard the new 200 cups are very good, never liked the look of the megans.

Here's a photo of my 1989 Alpine. It was taken on a tour of Northern France I undertook with a couple of mates and our wives.

A rare non turbo, It was a great car - when it worked. I won't go into the details of my two year ownership of the car from new. But, suffice it to say, the engine was more usually found on a mechanic's workbench than the car's engine bay and in the end Renault UK bought the car back from me.

Amazingly, it's still on the road. Last time I heard, it was seen in Edgware. And, do you know what? I'd still love to own one again.

I had a R5 GT Turbo phase 2 for a company car when I was 20. What a pocket rocket that was! Very rapid for its time, but would hate to have had a crash in it as it was flimsy and tinny.

Elliott - was the Lotus owned by a guy called Greg who has a Polish surname begnning with T (to protect his identity!)? It will be an amazing co-incidence if so!

Renault were the mortal enemies of Citroen...had their factory across the Siene in Paris from the Citroen one........could see what the other was doing, expanding production lines, numbers of cars made, those being tested etc....a true rivalary.........those where the days..................I normall spit when I mention that name.......but can't as am at work......;)....;)

I nearly bought a 21 turbo, bloody ugly car but very fast...thats the closest I've come to owning a Renault. I drove a 5 GT turbo as well MAF really quick but felt very unsafe!
