Removing GT side skirts

Greetings from Texas! I have a 2013 GT cabrio (non-sport) that I'd like to make look a little nicer by removing the non-sport side skirts and replacing them with sports side skirts. Does anyone know how difficult...or easy...the job is and does anyone have directions with pictures? I'm thinking of having the new side skirts covered with hydrocoated in black carbon fiber. Any assistance is appreciated!

Firstly welcome to the better Maserati forum. I'm not sure that they can be removed, are there any fasteners?. But hydrodipping them in carbon fibre (note spelling!) is not a bad idea.. However quality varies.

Hi and welcome.

The side skirts are held on from underneath by a line of bolts. Remove these first.

Then you have to remove the Maserati script sill plate to reveal further fixings. The front and back of the sill where they meet the wing/fender front and back are push fit snap connectors. Also just look in the arches for for extra fixings.

The only difficult bit it removing the Maserati script plate, you sort of wreck it so you should be aware you might have to buy two new ones.

Conaero...thanks for the reply. I had heard that the script plates can be damaged during their removal, as they are secured to the sill with very strong double-sided tape. I can new script plates for about $60 each, so not a big deal. From what I've seen, the sport side skirts can be purchased for ~$500 each. I have a local paint shop that does excellent work and they'll paint them for about $250 and then the hydro-dipping (on just a portion of the skirt, will run about $75/side. Hmmm...might be time for the next mod!!

I'm curious, what do the 'non-sport' skirts look like?

I'm not sure if you can tell from this photo, but the middle of the skirt doesn't have as much of a "kick out" as the sport version does.

Fantastic colour combo
Thanks! We love it.

I just found out today that the side skirts for the cabrio (quite British of me!) are a slightly different size than the side skirts for the coupe. Thanks Maserati!

I lived in the UK for 3 years when I was stationed at RAF Lakenheath from 1990-1993. Absolutely LOVED it there!

This thing is looking perfect as it is (IMHO).
Why mess with it...…….
There's no doubt that it's a beautiful car, but I really do like the more aggressive side skirts on the sport models. I do however, prefer the look of the older style front nose piece to the newer style.

You'll kick the bigger ones on the way in and out. Your car looks perfect just the way it is, if you ask me ;)

Your concern is duly noted however, I'm VERY careful and won't have problems with kicking them!
