That is indeed a world of pain...

That said there is always an early non abs one on ebay every now and then for £5000 or so, that should offer up most decent front ends parts you need plus some some parts you could sell. Where will the car be ? If London i would be more than happy to come round and help take it apart - i am getting better at putting them back together as well............

Go on buy it back, once it is jigged it is just like a big mechano set......

How is the off side headlight......................

Good Luck

Ouch that looks like it hit something that didn't want to move too far, glad you're in one piece Peter! I can see the A pillar kinkaffecting the door frame, not much to tug back in to shape but then you've got the invasive surgery of the bodywork that needs replacing, presumably the chassis leg and inner wing at least, has the bulkhead deformed as well?

A re-shell fro a tidy £5k example might be tempting if you had the space/time, you would have a lot of spares to sell on to mitigate the cost!

Thank you lads for all your positive posts, they helped get my head round the idea of a rebuild but today I sold the salvage on.

After further mechanical inspection it seems that the engine had been oil starved and so put another whole lot of cost into resurrecting the old girl.

Very sad day for me it's been a rollercoaster of a week with getting the salvage and looking into a rebuild then getting the shite news this afternoon.

GUTTED is just scotching the surface........

Gutted for you Peter. Just this minute posted in the MC thread that we might persuade you to go for the rebuild, but the oil starvation I assume would require an engine strip on top of everything else?

Sad day. Feels like the forum's lost one of it's finest. Hay ho, onwards and upwards.....Who know's what fine things are around the corner..

I'm with Hiscox's through Hagerty international and would recommend them to everyone who has a limited mileage & agreed value policy, they have been first class from start to finish making a painful time very straight forward.

They collected the car from Arran & delivered it to Bill McGrath's the next day. The following morning the assessor arrived and went through everything with Andy Heywood & then me over the phone. Next morning the report was with Hiscox’s who then gave me all the options to mull over, they did say at that point that if I no longer wanted the car they would transfer the funds that day!

Anyway on to the future.

Usually Peter...the whole insurance thing is what gets people down big time...nice to hear Hiscox are a cut above the usual insurance company antics!

Ouch. Now that is a horrible sight to see. You have my deepest sympathies. As a possible ray of hope, If you have the V5, engine, gearbox, differential assembly, there are a couple of ideas that spring to mind................

Just saw this after being away for a while, really feel for you mate. I can't add anything that hasn't already been said but agree with the guys, look forwards.

Hi Loz

Point taken but the deciding factor was the knackered top & bottom end (oil starved) That was the real deal breaker for me.....
