These special days have always been stressful but now that Contigo could turn up as well only make the stress levels rise further

How did Duck Tape, (sometimes known as Duct Tape,) get its name?
There was brand of tape called Duck Tape, and at the same time, people were starting to use tape to seal ducts, and somehow Duck Tape became the preferred brand of duct tape.
Yes Duck Tape, but what gave it the name duck?
OK, I've looked this up now, and am standing by, ready to argue with the QM.....

Since a couple of other people are re-visiting this....

My understanding is, yes, the original tape was 'duck' cotton fabric, coated with glue; hence 'duck tape'.
And this tape became popular for sealing ducts, so it gradually became known as 'duct tape' instead.
BUT, a company registered a brand name for their 'duct tape' as 'Duck Tape' in 1983.

SO, 'Duck Tape' got its name when Manco Tape Inc registered it in 1983, but 'duck tape' got its name from 'cotton duck' material.

Has anyone else started storing quiz questions when they come across them, just for this thread? No? Just me then.

Here's an easy one. Maybe. I guess they're all easy if you know the answers.

Which car was originally called Carla?
