Is there actually love for this car, or does the real world hate it?

I saw a couple of YouTube vids that said this car especially the Mk5 is not liked in general. So w.t.f ?

P.s don't get me wrong. I like the 4 door shape and vibe :)
From those who understand sprezzatura, yes :)

They're lovely cars. You won't find better with four doors.
Just drive one.
Failing that, look at one.
Or listen to one.
Love that. No saloon is prettier, such a wonderfully balanced drive or sounds as good. Sadly unlikely to be surpassed as the manufacturers head in the wrong direction...

Yep, people love the way the QP looks wherever you go. But then the great British public are scared of owning one due to running costs and reliability woes they read about on the internet.

I just got home, ...but as you asked.

You know the autobox with the 4.7 ain't a bad combo at all.

Impressed with the car. Its like driving a Ferrari version of an E Class. Lolz, I know this description sounds crazy :)

Electric rear seats and my favourite so far, a button in the rear armrest to move the front passenger seat forwards so you can stretch out in the back,....or whatever ;)

Ah. Yes Guy. It seems to me that in recent years, manufacturers have largely been focused on making rather soul-less cars that need operating rather than driving, perhaps to open up the market made up of folk with no interest in driving or no desire to drive. And what have they done to the appearance of their cars (shudders at the thought) ?
On this basis, there is no prospect of the QP being improved upon for the forseeable.
Modern Ghibli looks quite nice though, wouldn't you say?

4.2 with the auto box and paddles is pretty good too.
Just one of the countless wonderful things.....
Tootling along towards the corner. A tad too fast really. "I know, I'll paddle it down a gear. That way we'll slow down just nicely and we'll conveniently be in the right gear for a bit of power during the exit from the corner"
Oh no. Not at all. That's just not the way this playful kitten of a car thinks. It thinks like this:
"He's tootling isn't he? (Yawn.) OK then, I'll let my revs fall right down, he probably wants a quiet time so its no use me singing to him."
"Hey. He's woken up (excitement) He's paddled me down. Wonderful. I'll sing a bit. Perhaps he'll open the throttle in a moment and we can play. Meantime I'll keep the speed up. It would be rude to slow down wouldn't it?"
......And you can paddle it down again if you like and find yourself in second gear. It wont make any difference. The car will not slow down. But there will be this explosion of sound. The polite pussycat tootling along has the lungs of a Lion. The only way you will ever slow it down in time for that corner is with the brakes. Apply them now!
Enjoy every minute!
And while I think about it, there's that gentle but prolonged incline isn't there? You open the throttle very slightly to maintain speed and the car thinks "Hill. I'm on a hill. He's opening the throttle. He must want a hill climb. Party. Party. Party." and its changed down for you. So you just have to enjoy it and climb the hill. It would be rude not to.....
Pure enjoyment, this car.

Agree Alan, most marketing campaigns seem focussed on touch screens and connectivity or some bizarre notion that their EVs are green and will save the planet! Design has also been restricted by safety laws such as the space now required between the bonnet and the engine. I do like the modern Ghibli and QP VI, especially compared to the German alternatives but, to my eyes, they are not as beautiful as the Pininfarina QPV is. Maserati are not alone here. I think Ferrari peaked in recent years several models ago (458, F12) and BMW seemed to have declined rapidly since the E46 and E39.
