I could be wrong, but a lot of previously "budget" brands have been coming out with some half decent shoes in the last few years. Falken's are quite well thought of now in Land Rover circles, anyway. More so than they were.

Why would somebody lay a car up for 3 years losing 10-15k to then put it back on the road to sell, plus it's been on eBay at least once before without selling

My neighbours have gone to live in the US for three years and they have laid up two of their cars rather than sell them, makes no sense financially but that is what they chose to do1

Falkens have been well regarded for years, they used to be one of the preferred tyres for Minis on 12" wheels when I was more heavily into them in the 1990's. So I would regard new Falkens as a positive rather than a negative.

all my "friends" used to tell me maseratis were unreliable, expensive to run and rot.
Now I go with my own experience, or that of trusted friends, hence the guys here.

I've found falken fronts for 104 each, what does a rear pair come in at generally? How many miles can one expect from them if driven sensibly?

Yes - I've done just under 8K on my rears - Pirelli P Zero with a tread wear of 160. Pretty sure that the'll need replacing soon
