Price help

Right, now I have to get my head around selling the 4200.

It's a 2003 CambioCorsa, 39k miles, skyhook etc, major services and some yearly ones carried out - last yearly was this April, clutch renewed 6k miles ago. Interior unmarked apart from some slight wear to the edge of the driver's seat. No damage to bodywork, just the usual stonechips. Now has a straight through exhaust and i have kept the old boxes. Currently running on black alloys but I still have the originals, tax and MOT Dec 2011. Looked on Pistonheads and no real consistency in prices, dealers quite high I thought. So - what should I be asking for?

That is a lovely car...Loving the alloys......Price is really hard at the moment as they are all over the place but you do have low miles..........Plus it all depends on how quick you want to sell.....Between 14k and 18k maybe......Go high and see how you get on

Thanks Andy/Safrane

I'm not too desperate to sell quickly so I will start at £17k and see what happens!

Personally, I always think it's best to be honest with yourself and advertise it close to what your bottom whack is. What sort of price would it need to be to get you interested in a private sale? I think you'd probably get a call or two at £15500 and take £15000.

It would def go quickly for £15k but there could well be someone prepared to pay £16.5k - I think I would be naive not to try to get the maximum the market will produce.

Not easy cars to value. My 05 05 manual Coupe is going in the next three months. Can't decide whether to part exchange it or risk a PH ad and all the idiots ringing up asking if it's got massage seats or a DPF....

Hi all - if this is the case, then I've just overpaid for my 2002 4200 CC (although I'm not in the slightest upset about it)!

Bought from Autofficina (with a 12month / 6000mile warranty), I paid £16,500, although the condition was absolutely immaculate. 52k miles.
Full specialist history. Verdi Greenwood - most optional extras including space saving wheel / briar wood kit.

With this in mind, I would consider pricing yours (private) at least for the same (considering the mileage and year).
I am the amateur here (my very first post in fact), but I hope this helps!

Mat.

Mat - you got a warranty as well which is probably worth at least 1K+...so all in all u got a well sorted car at a good price from a dealer

Welcome to the forum Mat.

The thing with private vs retail is you have peace of mind with retail, at least in theory. Autoficcina are always expensive IMO but it sounds like they offer a good product and, I suspect (and hope you don't have to find out!) good aftercare service.

The most important thing is you bought a good 'un and buying from a well repsected Indi, you stand a good chance of having done so.

Welcome to the forum Mat, As posted above, valuing these cars isn't an exact science and you do have the benefit of some additional piece of mind over and above what sounds like a good example. Hope you'll post some pictures and keep us abreast of your experiences as you get to know your new car. Cheers, Em.

Hi all - thanks very much for the welcomes!

I'm sure I'll have many questions in weeks to come - in the right forum of course :)

Having problems uploading pics from my work pc - I'll attempt to drop a few links in here.

YHTM - Apologies for briefly hijacking your forum! I absolutely love the colour scheme you have there - the wheels look great, and I bet she sounds amazing too. I hope you get your asking price, albeit a very sad day!
