Went to get a couple of cylinder heads today and the guy had two of these in the shop. Forgot to take a photo so found one on the net.

Napier Deltic T9. About 6ft high. Similar to the loco engine but less cylinders. The thing he was telling me that I found really interesting was that they’d come from a Hunt class minesweeper so there’s no magnetic metals in them. Blocks are aluminium but the cranks, rods, camshafts, liners and fixings are all stainless steel.

Perhaps influenced by my love of Rosso Magma, I think this suits the Alfieri (sorry, Roma) rather well;

Dropping the car off at Autofficina this morning, spotted these beauties. Merak, Volvo P1800, California T (which was so much more imposing in this colour)…

I've got my beady eye on that Merak just in case my numbers come up this week. Note to self - must remember to post the pools coupon in the morning!

A splash of Italianate colour....

Lunch stop (we'd been given a doggy bag by the excellent cook from the previous night) off the N40 - a fun road with some straight bits, twisties and not many other cars (but it was a bank holiday)101316
and a twistie

(we missed the rain - roof was down for the full journey)

Fingers crossed for you! It was indeed gorgeous - the paint and interior looked almost brand new.

There are several Meraks for sale in the UK at the moment but I feel rather drawn to this one, the colour combo is really nice and suits it.

Meanwhile, at Monaco back in 1970.... the year The Beatles split up, we lost Jimi Hendrix, Jochen Rindt and Piers Courage, and 'The Persuaders' started filming....

That explains why Niki Lauda would be in the background of the 308 Factory poster I got at the Sydney Motor Show when I was a kid and they were new.
The poster took pride of place on my bedroom wall and then has been on my garage wall for 26 years, thus the fading colours.
