The 1954 French Grand Prix. Fangio’s first race for Mercedes (he transferred from Maserati after the 3rd race) and the debut of the long awaited W196 straight 8. He took pole position by a second with Kling (Mercedes) and Ascari (Ferrari) joining him on the front row. The Ferraris and Maseratis didn’t stand a chance. Fangio and Kling raced closely all the way to the end of the 61 lap race. Mercedes then issued team orders to let Fangio win by 0.1s as he was leading the drivers championship after winning rounds 1 & 3 for Maserati (Round 2 was the Indy500 and he didn’t drive there). The 3rd place Ferrari and the 4th place Maserati were a lap behind, the rest at least 3. Talk about moving at the right time and dominance! 21 started, 6 finished, most DNF’s caused by engine or other mechanical issues.

Lancia Trevi, various Nissans, Dolomite, a couple convertibles I can’t place , Rover 3500, a Golf possibly, A green Fiat 128?, RX7

That’s on Cromwell Rd Kensington, had to go in there to buy a packet of biscuits on Valentine’s Day after the worst meal ever. Only time I’ve sent food back.
