Contrary to the forecast the sun shone so we did the Fedaia Pass

That wonderful road surface wasn't like that the whole way down
Looks like a fabulous trip.

In contrast, this is what the top of Passo di Giau looks like in winter. The road is usually passable all winter unless there has been a recent heavy snow fall. The mountain is Nuvolau and lower right, on the skyline, is Rifugio Averau - quite famous for its local delicacies, combined with fabulous panoramic views all the way to Marmolada glacier.
