It's the IMS seals leaking no other issues.
I dropped the box thinking I was putting a new rear main seal in which I will as I have.
Now to buy the timing kit to lock it all up and get in there.

Do Boxster suffer with IMS issues? You might as well change it now your in there though

The bearing on mine is fine it's just a o ring and the seal that need renewing.
It's not a five minute task and I have to invest in the timing kit to do the job.
My engine has the later bigger bearing the downside being to replace it means a total strip down.
I have read many articles on this and it's quite rare for total failure of the bearing.
Missed services and poor workmanship cause a lot of the woes.
I'm going to do the job like 911 Virgins do as the car is very healthy otherwise.
It's not a five minute task and I have to invest in the timing kit to do the job.

Let’s hope not. Even you concede they’re rubbish in cold conditions!
If I had an MC12 or MC20 I’d not go near the snow/ice at all, even with winter tyres. For me, Maseratis are for sunny days only. Land Rover build winter cars, not Maserati.

i really like the MC12 but it was a pretty car compared to the MC20.
