Now there's interesting.
DVLA lists OBH500H as an orange 1970 5.7Ltr McLaren M6GT, which on various MOT tests was stated to have 'No lights fitted at time of test'.

Then a quick Google finds this:

and this:

Thoughts?

I love Prescott btw, must get up there again sometime.

Not sure. Bruce’s M6GT is in the States and has headlights so I’m guessing somehow the reg has ended up on the one at Prescott.

Found this though.

You can get a daytime MOT, I only learned this recently when we road prepped Stu’s Trofeo.

So as it suggests you can only drive the car in daylight...probably there for competition cars to drive on highways between stages.

Far more common in the two wheeled world it’s just one of those things left over from the past.

It also saved me having to fit wing or mirror mounted indicators, not to mention having to faff around with the correct headlamps. I have basic white lights to the front so can flash people (so to speak) if I need to.

You also should not drive in gloomy or wet conditions, anytime when you would ordinarily use lights, but then my car is far from watertight so I will be avoiding driving in the wet anyway

Apparently it's an M12 with an M6B body, and it's regularly hill-climbed by Rupert Marks. The original OBH500H coupe was in the Mathews collection, at least for a while, so I guess they just split the reg away (I think I would have kept it). It's one h3ll of a car for the road :)

Anorak moment, I knew this but have no idea how or why - must have been mentioned at some point back in the distant past
