It may be cr4p but DAB is a d4mn sight better than AM and even FM. I probably wont bother unless I have to when they scrap analogue transmissions.

I don't really listen to the radio much, i am mostly streaming any thing i feel like off the tinterweb these days, via Deezer, in the car! Its really quite good, and despite my Scottish accent the Parrot get the voice search stuff mostly right, including the voice controlled phone interface, its quite cool! I think the whole system has improved over the years. DAB is noticeably better quality sound but the choice of stations is not inspiring.

Mr C. thanks again for producing this how to guide. It's been put to good use over the week end. I've used a slightly different install method but essentially its the same just the screen and microphone placement are different.

I can't say for earlier 4200's but for the facelift model you can if your careful just remove the drivers side allen key bolt and slacken the passenger side bolt the holds the lower part of the arm rest in place. This gives you enough wiggle room when running the cables and installing the parrot control box.

The finished article looks like this :-

I also installed a sat nav antenna at the same time below the central air vent. Velcro tape was used to fix this into place.

I then ran the cable for the screen and the sat nav antenna under the dash past a gap at the side of the binnacle and the down to the left of the steering wheel. There is a hole with some form of flexible trim cover under the dash to the far left of the drivers side. I fed both cables through there and tucked them under the transmission tunnel trim. The microphone is positioned near the steering wheel and the cable follows the same route as the others.

Microphone is attached using the trim clip provided in the kit. The screen is mounted using a Unibond / No more nails removable strip that is trimmed to size and then a sharpie pen is used to colour the edge of the foam strip black prior to sticking down.

I also used the no more nails strips to attach the parrot control box to the inside of the arm rest. I will at some point make a screen support mount to attach between the air vent and the sticky pads on the back of the screen cable.

Something to note on the latest MKI9200 V3 kits. The aux cable supplied is now a USB and phono mini line in only. No Ipod connector if you should need that option but you can stream direct to the parrot.

Its working fine so far Chris. I didn't have any trim removal tools to mount it on the front pillar. If it falters I will have to come up with a plane b.

Couple of questions for you though. Any idea what the black multi plug is in the attached photo. its not connected to anything in the arm rest. Is it for the optional amp maybe ?

The other question is the middle connection on the parrot box according to the manual is not used for anything. The symbol on it looks a bit like the HDMI symbol you get on AV equipment. Any idea what its for ? I can't see the point in it being there if it isn't used for anything at all. It also looks a bit like the older parrot 9100 screen.

No idea about the first one. Amp is as likely as anything else.

As far as I know the unused plug is a extra for diagnostics / updating by parrot. Little more than an educated guess, though.

Depends on which model parrot you have Dave. If you post a picture of the parrot screen I can tell you which model it is and what it does. As a minimum its a phone system some models are media players as well.

No screen,
It just sits on the dash unobtrusively above the Multi media screen,
so I guess it is just telephone - which is ok.
Just found a little booklet in the documents folder I may as well read it!
Thanks

I downloaded the mki9100 manual out of interest. the 4 pin middle connector on the parrot control box is for the mki9100 screen. The conector on the far left of the picture is marked as not used in the Mki 9100 manual which is the connection for the mki9200 screen Which begs the question can MKi9100 owners upgrade by just connecting the MKI9200 screen and cable to the correct port. You may also be able to output a signal from the mki9100 screen port to the maserati display with the right interface connection.
