Outdoor QPV wet weather worries - any drains need clearing?

Not had the luxury of dry storing pretty much any car. *Personally* I think it's a car and part of the essential capability of a car is to stand the rain. Clearly this did not apply to 1980s era Alfas, but I will forgive them much. My 4200 had some rusting on the rear arches and the screen. As far as I know my GT had no issues (although subframes were not becoming a thing) and the Ghibli sailed through its last MOT <shrug>

Totally no criticism aimed at anyone that dry stores or SORNs a car, but I need dailies.....

Oh Mark. So sorry to see all that dirty water in your boot. That really is dreadful. It would have me thinking about a car cover.
I don't think mine has ever been that bad. But when it was dodgy, I dried the rubber seal around the edge of the boot and laid kitchen roll all round it. Within a week the damp bits of kitchen roll showed me that water was getting in along the bottom edge. Sorted. It's pretty dry now and I just use the moisture absorbing crystals in the wardrobe dehumidifier. No car cover. I just leave the house, get in the car and drive it :)

MY GT leaked into the boot, as did my 4200......

I've tried de-humidifier crystals and never ever had *anything* collected. Never quite worked out why but, hey!

Odd that.
Silly question. Did you follow the instructions? They come sealed to keep them dry on the shelf in the shop. You have to break the seal to let the damp air in the boot get to the crystals.

Big improvement.
But I certainly like the look of some of the older ones.
Odd, perhaps, but I seem to like the look of Masertis from every period.

Perfectly reasonable to ask. Yes. Tried them on and off for about 15 years. Given up now and rely on A/C. Just wish the Ghibli had a heated windscreen. I do miss that on the Jaaaaaags

Yes, the Jag heated front screen was fab. Although MrsMM complained about seeing the lines.

Can anyone recommend a decent all-weather cover for a QP V? Mine (2009) will be sat on the drive 95% of the time so it'd be nice to keep it cosy over winter....

Many people on here are very against outdoor covers, saying that any grit inside the cover will scratch the paintwork over time, with weather, etc. Also moisture will sit inside, rather than drying out on fair weather days. I have no personal experience of them.

One thing you can do is drill 3 5mm holes in the lowest part of your boot so any puddling will move on.

If you don’t, first to go will be your handbrake cables which will rust and seize £1k plus fitting then your handbrake module and drive £2k plus fitting

It's probably best to clear out the scuttle or leaves every so often even if you're not driving it. Particularly this time of year. Sycamore seeds are troublesome too ..

I was about to have a look in there before it went all biblical, but saw that there were some screws involved in removing the tyre well floor. Have to put some big boys pants on if we get a break in the weather
