Old Fart needs advice

Hi guys need some help /advice , as they tell me the music industry is all about who you know , surely we must have some one on here who has direct links promotional wise

As with most parents or family we think the world of our offspring ,but Kaz's grandaughter we think has something really special ,she plays and writes all her on stuff , crystal clear voice so we have recently paid for her to have some studio time to produce a CD which as it turns out is pretty remarkable, need to get it marketed for her .

So what i need is help , where do we go from here, whats the best route, happy to post links on here or send out copies , ideally i would like a direct route in (wouldn't everyone in the same situation)


Thoughts,advice help or intro would be greatly appreciated

What kind of music? I have many contacts in the music industry but most are into dance music. I think normally you would send in demo cds to record labels, get a manager/agent. Gigging is another way to break into music. Having a local fanbase /facebook group/youtube are all good ways to expose yourself.

Cheers Nick ,She has already done a bit of that , done quite a few gigs at MK Dons ground , has a facebook fanbase of sorts i suppose , and a few links on youtube , i suppose you would liken her music and style similar to Katey Tunstall esque but with her own individual twist

Loz, its really all about being in the right place at the right time...Doesn't help I know......I tried to break into the music business as a lad and it is bloody hard.............Really everything you and Nick had mentioned.......Demo's sent to loads is good but the one thing that gets your name out there is gigs.....gigs....gigs and more gigs..........Its about playing everythiong and everywhere..The good and the bad places as its the only way to make a name for yourself...........Get an agent who knows where to push the sort of talent your Grandaughter has..........

There are also lots of battle of the bands type things that go on throughout the country and you do find scouts at these sorts of things....

Loz I would like to be more help but as with most things it takes lots of hard work unless you have that one lucky break and that really is about as I said before...Right place/right time...

I had a friend who may be able to help or give advice but not seen her for years so will try and find out where she ie and if I can will talk to her.

I would say the cheapest and most cost effective way is to get a video up on YouTube. It will take a bit of cash but once the masses get a hold of it they all push it through Facebook etc, then you get noticed.

I am not talking hi end vid, just try and get something up viral.

Just a thought.

I do know a few execs from EMI......they used to dine at my place...
A friend is an ibiza dj (paul oakenfold) so could ask him also.....
I do agree with the above though as i know they will want some sort of already "publicity hype" through the net so get a video then put it all over the net......after that get a manager.....

You could always be her manager......

That tune is his yes i think......im not tight enough to bell him at anytime but can call him when i want to ask something every now and again, i belled him when we went ibiza and he sorted out rooms and clubs with tables in vip for us....

I also know EZ, craig david and my dad is friends with george micheals dad (both had very busy restaurants), i did once sleep with rachel stevens.......wel in her house anyway, was good friends of her brother lee.....

Met paul through my cousin in cyprus, he owns a busy bar and hes friends with him so when i was there we struck up a friendship....
Craig david drinks at my local and EZ is from wood green where i grew up...
Rachel stevens along with her brother went to my school along with amy winehouse....

Wish i was tight with all of them but im not....just know them enough to talk to.....
