Hi, Put the roof up on my spyder today and oil dripped on my head. Can see to black pipes there which I assume work the front roof locks. Is this a big job, any help would be usful.

Found which pipe is leaking, any body ever changed part number 980002002. Seems to be a hard foam cover over the ram that doesn’t seem to want to move and can not work out what is holding it there. Think may have to drill all the rivets out in the front to lift the roof canvas.

Thanks
They won’t post to the uk unfortunately, been googling around but haven’t found anybody else that does them.
Why not try one of the mobile hose repair companies? Someone like Pirtek or similar. Call them with hose sizes and see if they can repair. They are likely to have all the kit.

try these people, quick couplers rated at 150bar for fluids

Thanks but these are for hard plastic pipes. The capote pipes are plastic tube with fiber reenforcing and a soft plastic sheath over the top.

@Gazcw Ye will try Monday thanks

Well There’s the front locking ram out. The oil leak was travelling between the two layers so had to peel back the outer 30 mm before finding the pin hole so looking at changing the pipes now

If you get the pipe out and take it to Pirtek or James Listers they’ll make you a new one. If you’re near West Brom Listers is the place, been around for 150 years in the Black Country.

Thanks Oneball
Im near Wrexham north wales there are a few hydraulic company’s around here but I think they are mainly heavy plant what I used to work on. Euro and scuderia has both pipes for £150 so may get oem.

They’ll do small bore thermoplastic hoses it’s used for control circuits on a lot of industrial stuff.

Too bad. They work great, are easy to install and it looks like they're just what you need. It's hard to imagine that in the day of Globalisation a small part can't be shipped from the US to the UK even when on their Website they say they do international orders. Money might solve the problem.

I've used pirtek a few times on supply only for replacement hydraulic machine hoses and on the rs200 fuel pumps, very good at making all sorts of hoses including small bore stuff but do get shafted, at £150 i would go OEM

It’s gone right before a piece that has to bend every time it opens and closes so I would have to buy two and a new piece of tube so now the ram is out I may as well fit two new pipes so it’s done.
Thanks everyone for your input.

Just incase it’s of use to anyone as there’s not much info on the net about this, there a 2 pieces of hard foam in the front of the soft top above the front lock mechanism and ram. I thought I was going to have to drill out all the rivets in the front and peel back the canvas to find out how they where held in place as they wouldn’t move, but if you use a hair dryer to heat up the front metal panel where the locks are and slowly lever up with your hand up and down the foam inside the roof it should lift up and out, if is just glued in. You only have to take one out to get the lock ram out

Hi Neil
The ball joint at the end of the ram are like in the picture. Have you removed the clip. You have to uncurl the clip and then pull it out of the ball joint

Hi Cliff, many thanks for replying so quickly. Very much appreciated.
I removed the pin you highlighted at the arrow'ed end of the ram and which is free of the coupling.
It's the other end where I'm stuck. Circled. The ram appears to be only held in place on a fixing post with a cir-clip.
I've removed the cir-clip but the ram won't budge and can't see anything else that's obvious.
Thanks again for your help.
