At some point I may have to replace my HVAC ecu. I notice on Eurospares that the UK piece (#183666) is 476 pounds versus the North American piece (#193243) at 730 pounds.
Any idea why? What is the difference between the 2 units??
Just curious!

Could be that you get lower temperatures in winter, or hotter summers, or that maybe they think you have more money than we do, so you will pay more....!!!! I would not have thought it mattered, heat and cold are either on, or off at varying degrees, once you select the temperature you want it should give you it...???

No kidding eh?!?
Makes no sense to me either!

On a side note, I bought a front door speaker cover off Eurospares for 3 pounds (about $5 Canadian)
If I bought it off of Maserati North America it would be $211 Canadian.
I want to move to the UK!!!

Heard that condersor units r larger on US cars maybe a factor

Hmmmm....could be I guess! When I asked a tech the same question, he said "off the record, it should work".
Not sure if I'll chance it.

BennyD....nothing horribly wrong just yet as I still have A/C and heat, but every now and then the dreaded "LOW BATT" comes on and the HVAC goes into limp mode.
Minor annoyance but I just want everything working perfectly! :)

John,
What makes you sure that a low battery warning is the HVAC ECU..?? It could be that the battery is starting to go, or the alternator is not giving sufficient charge. If the battery has a duff cell and is not putting out full volts, or is low on current, then some of the systems may shut down due to insufficient power. I would check these before going any further.

Hi again! When I mentioned this to my tech he informed me that the "low batt" message in the infotainment section is indicative of the HVAC.
(the "low batt" message shows beneath the fan speed indicator)
As they checked the alternator, and replaced the battery, there's no reason to suspect the issue is in the charging. The whole charging system checked out A-okay.
The other side of this is that the "E" shows for a few seconds when I start her up in the mornings, and even comes on sporadically when she's warmed up.
It can mean the ambient temp sensor is failing (the one on the side mirror) but they said this is a also a possible sign that the HVAC unit is on the way out apparently.

I'm not rushing into this at any rate. I can live with it for now, but eventually, I'll unplug the old and plug in the new!

Cheers!!

It can also be the actuators that control the hot/cold and the air distribution flaps that cause the E message. I had the same problem. They are a ba5tard to change as the dash and centre console have to come out and even then, they are a pain to get at as the drivers side (air distribution flap) actuator is behind the fixed metal air con pipe. Good luck!

On a similar note, does anyone have a list of the HVAC error codes and their meaning? I occasionally get 55 and 114.

Cheers

Tubber,
Have you checked the entry areas to the flaps, just in case they have leaves built up in there..??

I haven't Hodroyd. But mainly because I haven't the slightest idea how to do that! LOL
I'll search threads for a "how to".
Thanks for the advice!!
