I have a Foxwell 680 all system diagnostic tool. Does anyone know if and how it can be used to find clutch wear on a MC shift Granturismo please ?

Thanks

Don't know about the Foxwell, I assume you've googled it?

I know my LAUNCH X431 PRO MINI can read the clutch wear. I'm happy to check anyone's if they're in the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk area.

The only three that i know that can read the clutch wear and adjust PIS settings etc are :

Launch x431
Leonardo
SD2 / SD3

Not sure if that module is out on EasyMas as yet.

The foxwell, autel and maxcom units as far as i know cant read or adjust the clutch settings but can talk to some of the car systems depending on the model and software versions on the unit you have.

EasyMas does do all of the gearbox functions including clutch wear.

Folks should also realize that the clutch % worn figure can be fudged by re-baselining new clutch closed position - NCCP - (by an unscrupulous person...). So, be skeptical of the values you see from the interrogating devices. In reality the way to determine (or rather, get a sense- in any case) for the state of the clutch - is to note the conditions under which the car has been driven (city, motorway, suburban), note miles since a new clutch, note whether the driver has allowed engine rpm to be <1800 rpm much of the time, how aggressively the starts have been, etc... These are somewhat subjective. If you have had the car since new or since a clutch change, then figure on 700 km per 1% of clutch wear... 70,000 km (43,000 miles) per clutch... under varied circumstances of driving. It can be a lot less than 70,000 km of life under heavily urban driving circumstances... and the converse...

Remember, also, peripheral cpt failure also can cause the need for a clutch job... No way you are going to all the trouble of getting to those cpts and NOT renewing the clutch when there!

Thanks for sharing- not had a play with my AP200 yet - keep it in the boot in case of emergency though.

IIWY I'd make sure you've got it all set up. IME it's not a quick first use with additional software to download and registration to do

Can't recommend having a Launch X431 pros mini £500 or thereabouts well spent and works with nearly everything and about 3 tanks of fuel at today's prices.
