Hello one and all - I'm replacing my rear number plate this afternoon.. what's the best way to remove the current plate - gentle tug?

Secondly, any tips on getting the new one aligned - those pads are quite sticky!

Yes, just prise it off, trying not to mark the paint. If you slide something like a palette knife up the back you will find the adhesive pads, but I would just try and pull it off, does not matter if you crack the old plate.

I used to be a sign writer and we always used to make up a frame in masking tape around the outside, well on 3 sides with the rear maser one should be enough. That then enables you to eye it up before you do the final push.

Good luck.

I dont know where the pads are on your plates, but usually an old credit card can be used to help breakdown the sticky pads. I've use CC's to remove an awful lot of bardges from cars over the years. My cars, I hasten to add!

I have heard others suggest using fishing line, sounded good to me and least likely to scratch the paint??

Cheers

Woody - I agree, I used my CC to remove the two"Designed by.." badges the other week!

My car and my CC seem to go hand in hand!
