Noisy fans Gransport

The fans on my recently purchased Gransport seem to be very noisy when they come on. I can feel a vibration through the car when they come on. I don't remember the same happening with my 4200. Has the Gransport got more substantial fans?

I've noticed the same with mine Hedgetrimmer. It may be nothing, and just a difference rather than a potential failure, but I'll be getting it checked whilst I have the warranty.

The fans have multi speed, however if the control unit is shot they work at 100% rather than the slower speeds.

The control unit is behind the front grill and as a result is hit with water/grit/stones/everthing you car goes through.

Thanks Safrane. If I recall correctly, the fan functions are logged in the SD software, so this would seem the place to start the checks.

I've recently developed the same problem. According to Autoshield the fans are balanced with weights, rather like wheels, and one of them has fallen off. Very annoying ...

Yep, the thermostats go very easily - means you hear the fan when you don't really expect to. It's a (relatively) cheap fix.

Many thanks for the replies. The vans do seem to be working flat out and the vibration is relatively high therefore I wonder whether I have both problems!

The fan thermostat is the same in an Alfa 156 and about £12 from memory.

How you re balance the fan could prove difficult. Have a look for the mark where the old balancing weight was then go to a scrappy ang get a couple off old Alfas maybe?

Also check to see if the fan is rubbing on the housing it rotates in?

That's cutting it fine Hedgetrimmer? I was in JCT the other day picking up a new air scoop, empty Maserati showroom, but did you notice the wall behind the receptionist? "SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE WE AWAIT THE ARRIVAL OF THE MASERATI GLASS WALL WHICH WILL SOON ARRIVE FROM ITALY". I had to laugh!! By the way March 15th is the official opening of the new showroom, open till 10pm, so get your invitation.

Got one of my drivers to drop the car off due to being too busy at work. I will be in the showroom later in the week so will take a peak.
