Dear all, what a great site it is. I am a fresh new Maserati 3200GT owner from the other side of th world in HK. Like some othesr mentioned, there isn't a lot of boomerang 3200 left in this land but tons of QuattroP and Grand Turismo around town.

My 3200 is in green, the very BRG, the most strangest color of all, but luckily there is only one here, so quite different. I have many things to ask in the coming future, I am sure. But I have one immediate conerns right now, everytime I press the 'Sport' button, there is a 'ERROR' message come onboard, it will not go away. Turn the key off, restart the car, the message goes away.

Anyone experience this before? BTW my lady is late 99 model. low mileage claimed by the previous owner. Otherwise this italian can really fly effortlessly.

Thanks for your time and looing forward to hear some advice from you guys.

Morning Rudy and welcome to SMF.

Nice to have a one of a kind car in a country!

The message could be linked to the suspension actuators

Hi Rudy and welcome , as it only comes on with the sport button and at no other time i would agree with Peter , the suspension actuators on the 3200's have a habit of sheering the teeth off the nylon cogs , best to have the error code read so you can determine which actuator it is , there is a company in the states that refurbish them , or supply new ones made of alluminium , hopefully Matt will be along shortly and will post the details for you

Here you go this chap is brilliant and did one of mine for me.

Basically remove each actuator by way of sliding out the clip and shake the actuator. If it rattles, it's done. Also check the movement of the shock gear and it's condition. A broken actuator can be put down to a seized shock,

The shock gear should freely turn 90 degrees in each direction.

I would have to take it to my trustful mechanic to examine. I learn something new each day by visiting this site! Great help guys! One more question, is that a costly fix to get this suspension acurator sort it out! And without fixing it, or if I don't press 'sport' mode, would that affect the performance or handling during normal mode?

I would not worry about the warning light too much just drive it sensibly till you get it fixed.

The front actuators are easy to get to so I would check them first. The rears are a bit more tricky to get to.

The actuators new are quite pricey, circa £500 from memory each. I would definitely use Captain CNC as he replaces the nylon parts will machined parts, from memory circa £100 each....no brainer really.

'Sport' mode firms up the suspension, would they adjust the throttle response as well? I felt the sudden 'urge' moment, pls correct me or just my imagination! I believe sport not equal to the famous 'skyhook' system, am i right?
Thanks.

Hi Rudy welcome to forum. I have a 3200 and yes sport mode firms up the suspension and also alters the ASR setting which allows a bit more wheelspin before cutting the engine power. This is fine in the dry but you need to be careful in the wet.

It also looks like Eurospares may now sell the gear suspension actuator gear wheel under part no SAG 355 at £25-00 each. Not sure without contacting them but it looks promising.

Maybe it's cos the 3200 owners are out driving their cars instead of complaining about what's broken on them... I'll get my coat.

I found the normal mode suspension is quite firm already, so leave that sport button alone for now until further investigation. Thanks for all ur info. Yes, hope she's been nice to me, i expect to spend some fortune, but not a whole lot..lol.

is the grandsport side skirts fit onto 3200? That part of GS attacts me the most...otherwise, can't beat the boomerang rear....YES! Rudy

Do they sell at Masaerati main dealer still? Or any other maker around? I saw a black 3200 somewhere in the web, having that part done! Excellent work.
