Im not sure now, I think the exhaust system does look like that! I will take a pic a bit later of them. It's either that or a Quicksilver system....we will see!

Coxy,
Lovely looking car, well done. The AC is outstanding and corners like on rails, but get used to it first before pushing hard. The Aussie interiors are slightly different to the UK cars, they were black with red piping, so it's interesting to see another variation. Could be standard exhaust, or Tubi perhaps, depends what is available in Oz, unless the system was imported of course.
Cheers

HOLY ****!!!!!!

I have been missing out for years!!!!! It's amazing! I haven't been pushing, but the easiest way to describe it in my mind is effortless.....in almost every way!

Have a slight issue though, NO ASR has come up on the dash, and when I pressed the sport button before, Error came up and stayed up.....any ideas???

Will upload some pics tonight!

Sounds like either an actuator or possibly an abs module, might not be so serious but could be, needs a diagnostic check.

Well.......

Got the new car and ****! The way it accelerates, the way it handles, the way it looks, and most of all, the sound! WOW

I got it at around 11, took me a little while to get used to it (Not saying I am competent yet but I am getting used to it slowly.) I brought it back to my house via a small twisty piece of road, it was absolutely stunning, I felt the steering was a little light, but the whole car felt good.....real good! I got it home followed by visits by almost all of my mates, all of whom wanted to go for a drive in it. They left dissapointed.

I went to my lunch date at about 130....car still running beautifully, except the ASR Off light was on and stayed on.....It actually happened earlier in the day....I put it into sport mode then Error came up on the dash too! =( Either way I just kept going very slowly to lunch then out to Brisbane airport to pick up a friend who had just arrived from Tas.....that's when it went downhill real quick!

On the way to the airport, I noticed that the battery volt meter on the dash was at 10.......not a good sign, thinking it was just one of those other things I kept going, as everything was working fine on the car. Got to the airport shut the car off to open the boot then the thing wouldn't start, came up with a padlock looking light on the dash. After a few mins of sitting there quietly the car started and we headed home.....car running perfectly, still no battery volts but it was running......Turned the corner onto another main road and every error light on the dash flicked on then went off, the speedo and tacho stopped working, and shortly after that, I had nothing, no power, no brakes, nothing. Pulled up in a quiet side street and then the car wouldn't turn over, and got the sound of a flat battery (Clicky noise) when I tried to start it. I let it sit for ten mins, then we push started the car and it was back to normal again......

I made it 3 mins up the road till it stopped again......That was it again, everything was dead, I pulled up in a carpark called a tow truck and had it towed to Automotion......It didn't over heat, no nasty sounds came from the engine when it was not revving, it just idled......I turned the key off as the accelerator had no effect on the car what so ever. Interestingly enough, after letting it sit, the car did actually come ok again, gauges started working etc.......not quite sure what's going on but the boys should be able to work their magic I hope without costing the earth.

It is still very impressive and I am madly in love with her.....just a little frustrating when it happens on the first day of ownership....lucky I wasn't out of town I guess.....

Either way that's the day.....It doesn't affect the way I feel about the car, its perfect but just a little glitch I guess.

Maybe just the battery isolator switch in the boot? or a bad battery connection. Here's hoping..

Yup, checking the simple things.....connections, earth, anything loose......hoping its something simple and not so costly

Yeah...surprising how quickly the above items fail completely/instantly....but yes...diagnostics first then take it from there

Sounds battery/alternator charging to me, so something once diagnosed should be easy to fix.

Im going with that one! I reckon it would be an alternator.....shouldn't be too expensive, IAP have new ones for 350 pound....so yeah not too worried yet.....Here is hoping though!

I reckon Automotion mechanics will be all over it....hope it's nothing too serious, but I would be happier to get it sorted now instead of a big bang!

Talked to Chris, he said sounds like alternator has packed it he can rebuild them and will do it for me which will help. See how it goes with belts sorted and start to play from there.

If the alternator is bad, then the volts will drop and the systems will start to fail due to insufficient power. Alternatively you may have a bad power cut off switch, worth a check in the boot to see if it feels good, or as mentioned a dodgy battery, or battery connection. All fixable, does not sound to be really serious at all, just annoying. Sorry about the bad start, short term fix, then permanent smile.

Exactly, just bad luck really!

As you said it's nothing too serious and Chris is going over the rest of the car just to be safe. But yes it will bring a huge smile!!!! As everyone says ESP when the turbos spool up!

Well just an update,

Had a yarn to Chris today about the car, turns out all the issue was, was that the clip that goes into the back of the alternator was broken and had a bad connection. Fixed it up in no time, car is good as gold. I think the battery is a few years old though and he said I could change it up the track if I wanted to....but its not necessary.

Also found out today that the exhaust is not standard and is a Tubi System. How lucky was that!

Shall upload a small video a friend took of the car the other day.

Tim,

Great result, these little things can be a pain, but simple fix and away you go, now you can start to enjoy her..!! Your reaction in the car movie made me laugh, we have all done the exact same and still do, these cars are infectious..!!
