Hey all,

Just bought a 3200 AC on the weekend 5/10 of Australian delivered cars......I will upload some photos when she arrives, but a quick question for you all, what is the belt service interval on these cars? I thought it was 100k kms or every 3 years.....any help is appreciated

Hi Coxy,
Warm welcome to the forum and as said, take care in the early weeks until you know how the car performs, they do have a lot of power on the rear end. Regarding your question, I think the safe target is around 50K miles, but subject to inspection. Check at every service to be sure, as they do degrade and could crack over time. Better safe than sorry..!!
ENJOY YOUR WHEELS..!!
Cheers

Welcome Coxy and congrats on the purchase. Let's see some photos as soon as you can. Apart from this wonderful forum you should check out Maseratioz in Yahoo Groups. We are largely based in Melbourne but have members in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney. If you want to PM me I can give you some more detail.
Cheers

I was amazed at how much power it does have when I test Drove it....I will be very carefull until I know how to use the thing properly. Might have to go off and do an advanced driver training thing.

This car has done about 30k km's since last belt change but it was done about 6 years ago. I am thinking of getting it done for piece of mind though....

Hi Geoff, when I get home tonight I will PM you, always good to chat to people in Aus about such cars.....

Qld car, do a search on car sales

Ah yes - there was a post on here a few days ago about that car - looks nice!!

How did you know it was the QLD car??? hahaha, where is that post located?

But yes it is the QLD Assetto, couldn't believe my eyes when it came up....the previous owner seems like a lovely bloke to talk to and deal with too!

Congratulations, stunning cars, but as said earlier take care. Looking forward to seeing pics.

Thanks for that, I have a big weekend of photo's coming up when I get the car, Im getting stupidly excited now!

Thanks all for the replies, it does help. As said I didn't quite realise how hard these things go till I actually drove it, I will be going very slowly indeed until I can get the hang of it. Might be posing for a while until I can work it out, but I don't think I will be getting out of the car much hahaha

Welcome Tim,

You are really going to love the 3200 :)
The dimensions of the 166 and the 3200 are actually very similar and they even share a few common parts. Line them up and guess which Fiat parts bin the 3200 got it's wing mirrors from!

I think the official line on the CAM belt is 30k miles or 3 years whichever come first. I am fairly sure most of use change every three years. I was not sure about this when I bought my car so i had it changed straight away and just had it done again done 17k miles in nearly four years.

There you go Ross! I did't see that till you pointed it out. It is interesting you say that about the dimensions being similar, From the passenger seat I thought the 3200 felt small....not sure why, once I got into the drivers seat it felt more like the 166. It has a very solid feel to it, and (I know this sounds strange) it just feels nice and feels right.....Not sure how else to explain it. It is very italian I would think, for those who don't understand them people would hate it, if you know what the italians are like, you fall in love straight away.

Thanks Davy,

I had a chat to the local Mechanics who do Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati etc. They told me the exact same thing, I was actually very surprised at the price, he quoted me $1600 to do just the belts....I insisted that the water pump gets done at the same time for peace of mind, which bumped the service up to $3k.....it's still better than the headaches that it would cause if something let go.

looks good and silver really suits this car.

I was surprised that it did work, I know there is one for sale in Black which is really nice, but this is every bit as good. The AC wheels set it off nicely.
Now just to find out what sort of exhaust it has on it, as the owner didn't know. He said the previous owner had put one on.

Looks lovely. Jealous of the boomerangs. Enjoy!!!

hahaha Thanks, I wouldn't be too jealous, the yours looks very lovely also!

At approx 2030 last night, I received a text saying payment had cleared for the car!!!

Do you think I could sleep?......no!

I assisted my cause with a bottle of red, it is now 0230 and I am wide awake and am ridiculously excited as today is the day my first Maserati comes home to live!!!

I know it's over due for belts, it has been run fairly often, (done 30k km's on these belts but 6 years since they were changed) But I plan on a quiet trip home, maybe stop off for a
coffee and oggle it a bit more, then onto washing and waxing!!! I honestly can't wait!

Not sure what to do now though, 0330 in the morning, not alot on TV Either!!!

Also out of curiosity, does anyone know what brand of speakers are in the car? This one has a Blaupunkt cd player in it but I'm unsure of the speakers and can't find anything on
google about it.....
