I had an invitation from Maserati to view the new Granturismo which is currently in the UK. Unfortunately in true Maserati fashion I was given 2 days notice that it was at 10am last Monday in Birmingham when there was a train strike (or at least the carnage left over from it). Getting there from Leeds for then was difficult and I had stuff on at work that I couldn't cancel at that late stage so couldn't go. :(

It’s been some years since I’ve posted here! as a previous GT owner (I had 3 new cars over many years) i was invited to the preview in London.

The car is very nice in the flesh. The proportions are excellent and I could sit comfortably in the rear at 5ft 10 with plenty of headroom and legroom behind the drivers seat set for me. Air suspension is standard as are the usual now required driver aids. Infotainment is very responsive and intuitive. Interior is in my opinion a big step forward with lovely materials and no obvious nasty plastics that i could see. Even the dark wood trim was lovely and I’m not a fan of wood in general. Seats are lovely looking, comfortable and the leather soft and thick to touch. 14 Way adjustment also standard.

The display car was a Modena in pearlescent white with Greige leather interior. Standard UK spec will be high meaning that options costs shouldn’t be too high. The standard audio for example is Sonus Faber with 14 speakers 480w which sounded very good. There is an optional audio with 19 speakers also by SF. I think the only option the car had was Head Up Display. Alcantara head lining will be optional but the standard cloth was still very luxurious looking and feeling compared to German cars.

Fit and finish looked very good. Wheels fill the arches much better than the old GT and the standard Modena wheels are very nice looking.

The Maserati engineer I spoke too said the Modena has excellent performance and the 60HP difference in the Trofeo is only really not at the top end so it seems the Modena will be fine for most drivers.

Not 100% finalised but expect UK pricing to be £145k for Modena, £170k Trofeo and £180k Folgere. This initially sounds very expensive and Modena looks to me like £125k car in the current comparable market but the car kind of sits in a unique segment with 4 proper seats and the trim level is high as standard. Significantly cheaper than a Roma but obviously not a V8. A brief startup of the V6 sounded pleasantly nicer than expected.

Production should start around June with UK deliveries a couple of months later.

Thanks for the info! I expected a much bigger price differential between the Trofeo and the Foglore.

Welcome back. I would love to hear more in due course. I also think it is expensive but I might be out of touch with prices. My view is that automotive margins have expanded too much in the low interest rate environment and discounts will have to come back in a big way over the next two years or so. With Porsche new car PCP rates now at 10.9% APR, affordability is getting seriously stretched for many buyers.

Any photos?

10.9?! Wow. And still they buy. Bloody strange.

@Deltona, thank you very interesting.

Surely there will come a point, when financing a new 'supercar' will just not happen?
Inflation up again this morning, so another hike in interest rates probably next week.

10.9% will be 12% soon.

Be back to the old days of "if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it".

Going up more next month. Will kill the market. Funnily enough despite the delay in the EV Macan you can now get some Macan petrols on <6 months lead times. Supply is growing just as demand goes south - the motor trade never learns. All this talk of taking lower volumes and no discounts will be laughed at this time next year.

Larger inventories is a sure fire sign of recession. Not just in the motor trade.

I said the same thing to the team at the event. They explained that the Modena wouldnt need many options if any hence the smaller differential.

Great info thanks. I assume interior dash shots will materialise shortly

Apparently there were some last minute tweaks to the interior but what i saw this week was final and definitely worth the wait in my opinion. Personally i think its much nicer than the interior of a Roma from a styling and controls perspective. I also think the materials are at least as good as the Roma.

It’s going to be interesting- manufacturers have been building cars to the lease model - for example you can’t “buy” Apple car play on new BMW’s - it’s included for 3 years and then £60pa. It’s nonsense. Now the leasing model is being reshaped by interest rates it will fun to see how the market copes.
