Hopefully that will mean less poverty spec models to allow those on a limited budget to buy a car they can't afford.

Bmw or merc are planning on pushing out cars with a high spec built in but you then have to pay extra by subscription to have the features turned on.

Your new car may have the features specced on delivery for say 3 years but then turn off. So if you buy a used model you then have to pay to activate the features. Nice way for them to get more money from non network used car sales.

Clever really innit. Utterly morally reprehensible, but still clever.

This has been going on for ages. My last Audi (17 plate) had live traffic on the sat nav included for 3 years and then you had to pay. My current Jag has the same thing. I won't bother renewing it as Waze is much more reliable!

Yes for things like sat nav and concierge services it has been around since 2016 ish. Now they are talking about subscription services for the heated seats and steering wheel etc that your car is already fitted with as standard but you will have to pay extra to keep subscibed. Comfort pack via paid app if you like.

How can that be justified from an eco/green perspective? It’s better to design and operate green/sustainable supply chains rather than manufacture waste. IMHO such practices should be exposed and shamed.

£10 per month for the UK market according to one of the articles and already in operation in some markets.

I have the same thing with my Volvo BUT if you have it serviced at a volvo dealer after the initial three years they renew the services "free of charge". To an extent this waste has been in cars for sometime - the wiring looms have all the cables and connectors for devices that aren't attached. All part of lean manufacturing. If you just have to install one loom (or even install the same everything) then the time savings and associated saving around supply chain management, stocking, picking, kanban, etc. is huge. Plus fewer errors and less options for the line workers. IBM have been doing this for years with their more powerful servers - shipped with 64 processors built in and your license fee switches on the desired number of processors. Cheaper for them to do this.

But as you all say - it's hardly green....

Is the dash so cutting edge that they don't want to share photos of it yet?

We have seen countless photos of the rest of the car, so there is hardly any surprise left.

It’s probably got a Citroen or Peugeot dash they don’t want anyone to see.

Review says the dash is similar to Grecale which is nice, if you like that kind of thing. I’m a button loving Luddite rather than having sheer surfaces with touch pads covered in mucky marks. Also they’re awkward to use when looking at the road as there’s no ‘feel’.
It is basically Grecale Infotainment/Aircon, Steering Wheel, Instruments & Clock. When i saw it i thought it was very nice especially surrounded by nice leathers/materials. My taste is quite traditional but i thought it was a good balance between latest tech and tactile materials. From memory i'm not a fan of the gear selector though but i guess this comes from the Folgore not needing a gear lever as such. As Top Gear say, not quite Bentley but better than Aston which is i think exactly what Maserati would have focussed on. The cabin is a very nice place to be and looks like it will be a nice drive too so hopefully the V6 will be up to the job.
