It’s Maserati- so of COURSE they are launching their best cars for 20yrs into the teeth of a recession and of course they will be heroically priced. Fear not though……it’s Maserati so of course their will be discounts and as for residuals…….relax it’s Maserati!

I think the last GT was
Was the last GT not c£80k+?

Now this is double in 5 years....?!?

The last GT face life’s car started at £91355 for the Sport and £108780 for the MC in 2017 that’s why I thought the car with the performance and modern stuff £130 would be about right. 160k is taking the rise which lets face it Maserati are very good at. As said it’s a shame as it will be a great car Inamnsure.

They were quite a bit more than that. £100k +.
My Strad was circa £112k back in 2011. As was my Cabrio MC in 2014.
Maybe an early 4.2 Auto was £80k back in 2008, but they soon went up from there.
But they’ll struggle with the new GT at £160k when you consider what you can buy from Ferrari, Maclaren or Aston (though slightly second-hand) at that price point.

Did some digging on the interweb

  • The Maserati GranTurismo has a RRP range of £80,175 to £125,285. (Car Wow c2015)
  • The range kicks off with the £94,000 Sport, while the more driver-focused and sharper-styled MC weighs in at £110,000. (Auto Express c2018)

The entry level one needs to be £120k to be competitive, but all the evidence so far is that it'll be considerably more.

There are a lot of good cars available in the £150k-£200k range, Maserati need to play this right.

Yes, you can get a 911 Carrera 4S with a real world 0-60mph of 3.4s (with launch control) for around £40k less!

I guess it's more the price per month that will count... so at the start, when interest is at its highest, resale will be higher but give it a year or so I feel things will become much more expensive.

When I bought my MC Shift the original bill of sale was included with all the history and that was 104k.
Wasn't loaded with extras and goodies either.
Yeah, mine was there or thereabouts. Options on base spec were Bose, Alcantara, piano black trim, the calliper colour and that’s about it. Can’t have been more than £5k of extras. 2009 model and I don’t think carbon stick-on stuff featured highly on anyone’s ‘must-have’ list in 2009.

I'm worried that the more i see it the more it looks like a Ghibli Coupe. Not distinctive enough at the back and a bit bland at the front. Overall a pretty car but not a 200k+ car

When Porsche upgrade the 911 every few years it gets significantly better and costs approx 7-10% more with each reincarnation. Their order books a always full. I ordered my 911 Cab back in April 2021 and still no news of when it will arrive. Currently their order books are full for the next 2 years build. Maserati need to look at how they can possible compete with that...............price maybe.........or is that too bl00dy obvious to them.

In the pork department, something like this would be a reasonable way to splurge some coin and with a chunk of change left in the bank compared to what we’ve heard about Maser prices. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-de...tcode=sw1a1aa&aggregatedTrim=992 4 GTS&page=1

Hopefully Maserati isn’t getting as daft with pricing as we fear.

20k premium on that car and still bullet proof depreciation.
Plus i cannot see the point of an all electric 'Grand Touring' car. the job description just doesn't sit well with 4-6 hour top ups every 200 miles or so especially if you are actually 'Grand Touring'.
My son in law has a Porsche Tacan 4s sport tourer. Must be without doubt the best looking sexiest estate car on the road. It has the largest battery pack and he still can't get more than 220mls from a full charge.
Lots of Poke with a 4 or 5 minute splash and dash is the only way for me. :p

It really is remarkable how similar it is to the old one. Apart from the dodgy wheels and headlights, you'd think this was the previous gen:

I thought for a moment you were talking about my sex life there.

Anyway, back on topic, agreed. Besides, a Grand Tour needs a bit of theatre. It's one reason I like my Vantage very much. It can waft around in peace, or it can sound very, very angry and spit unburned fuel over Dem. It's quite flexible like that.

I still think the last Granturismo is still one of the best looking cars on the road today and the new one is a nice evolution and better looking than the Alfieri (sorry, Roma). As per my previous post, inflation has increased prices of 10 years ago by 28% so like for like the new car would be £130-140k anyway. NB the average Ferrari in the UK has £75k options, which need to be included when making depreciation observations. I suspect most Granturismos arrived with £10-15k. I have yet to drive an Aston I would choose over a Ferrari or Maserati but each to their own....
