ah, ok, so when in situ it will be hidden in the body of the boot lid and I will have to pull the lock out to access, thank you.

Will give it a go in daylight.

I went in earlier today and had a play with the actuator but looks like I'm in need of a new one. It happily releases the boot but then sticks and doesn't release the catch which should then hold the lock in the closed position when you close the boot.

I've had a play with it (fitting, removing, refitting numerous times in the process) and worked in some wd40 around the piston to try and free it up but didn't noticeably improve performance. I may try to do the same again tomorrow but I think a new part is probably required.

Having ordered a replacement actuator before Xmas it's finally due in this week or next and should be only a few minutes to fit but a big improvement in the practical use of the car.

In the meantime my driver's window actuator collapsed last night as I arrived at the gym(!) so after returning home prematurely and stripping it down I see the 'star bolt' bushing had collapsed and fallen apart and the spring seems to be missing entirely (unless it's pinged out and lodged somewhere inside the door which I couldn't see whilst stripping in haste last night).

I looked through some threads on here and Craig Waterman's guidance last night but given that the main bushing is toast and in the process has bent up the mechanism I've ordered a second-hand replacement which should be with me tomorrow and I can fit on Saturday in the light. I may well take the opportunity to pre-emptively strengthen the replacement part and strip out the passenger side too depending on time constraints this weekend!

With the benefit of a second unit in hand it may also be possible to refurbish the original.

New window mechanism fitted and working as of Saturday.

New boot actuator fitted today.

In the process of dismantling the driver's door noticed the speakers were a bit of a state (foam around the paper element falling apart although still working reasonably) and a parcel of new woofers and some sound deadening has arrived which I'll fit at the weekend.


Really enjoying the car.

Since writing the above I realise I've not updated this thread at all.

I did indeed fit the new woofers in the doors as intended early in 2022.

In around spring 2022 I replaced the fuel filler flap release solenoid (bit of a faff as the majority of the interior has to come out to afford access).

Whilst I was there removed the wiring for the historic vehicle tracker which was installed soon after purchase but left a rat's nest of wiring throughout the boot and under the parcel shelf which whilst generally hidden was a potential concern for troubleshooting if I ever had a problem in the future so made sense to take out whilst access was already obtained.

In summer 2022 I then spent quite a lot of time with all 4 wheels off and the car up in the air treating and painting the underside and subframes wherever I could find any surface rust. Pleasantly surprised that there was nothing significant but took plenty of time to remove, treat and paint to try and keep it in good condition.

In November the car flew through its MOT and the tester was very complimentary about the condition of the car, I like to think justifying the time spent to clean up the underside as although it was always solid, it looks the part now too.

I acquired some spare 3200 wheels to allow me to get the original 4200 wheels refurbished and after obtaining a set of appropriate oem 3200 wheel bolts more recently through the forum have now swapped those over and the original wheels are waiting to be dropped off for refurbishment when I have a moment.

I also have a cruise control capable set of stalks ready to go on the car but haven't had a chance to implement and having not been doing any longer journeys since obtaining those it's not been high up my to-do list.

The other outstanding matter on my to-do list is to remove and reinstall the headliner which is drooping. I didn't have time when the rest of the interior had to come out for the fuel filler flap and weather hasn't been conducive since as a job best attempted in a space with room to open both doors which for me means outside as the garage has other things in it as well.

Sadly however, a bit of a change in personal circumstances means that I've bought a larger replacement car and as much as I will miss the coupe (I really enjoyed a great few hours driving to the coast and back on Monday to visit a friend in lovely weather), I will be putting it up for sale before long. Well, perhaps not that soon as I'm never keen to sell a car

Anyway, a proper advert will go in the classified section when I get around to it. I shall continue to drive the car regularly to avoid any problems arising from lack of use although not a lot of miles - I managed less than 4k between MOTs and most of that in a few longer trips which will mostly be taken in the new car now.

I still intend to get the original wheels refurbished and a service before sale but don't expect I'll get around to replacing the stalks or refitting the headliner as whilst I would like to do this for my own enjoyment, time is of course short and probably not best spent on a car which I'm now not going to be keeping long-term, contrary to my original intentions.

I will also therefore have (with or post car sale):
Spare set of OEM 3200 wheels and wheel bolts, cruise control stalks, spare window mech (passenger side), original exhaust centre section (running x-pipe). Maybe some other bits in the garage I've forgotten about.

Car runs great, a joy to drive and has not let me down. Few things I've had to do are just maintenance which should be expected due to the age of the car.

Any interest before I get around to properly advertising let me know.

Would love a spare window mech...! Hate to hear you are parting with the car, but am assuming (and hoping!) the change in life circumstances is a net positive...!

Thanks, yes all is well and change is all positive. The Maserati just wouldn't get enough use to justify keeping as it was bought to be the practical car and now is neither practical enough nor silly enough to keep long term compared to other cars we have.

Not that I'm desperate to get rid of it!

Will be holding on to all the spares until the car is sold in case a buyer wants any/all but will advertise those that remain separately after the car is sold. Transport to America might well be prohibitive though!

Original wheels refurbished a few weeks ago and fitted last week. Looking really smart.

Cruise control stalks also fitted at the weekend finally after sitting on my shelf for ~6 months. A really simple job thanks to the guide on here - I did need a gear puller but no drama there.

Car continues to run really nicely, with no problems. The engine is such a delight and the whole package feels really light and eager compared to ordinary vehicles.

Only a full set of recently refurbished 3200 wheels/tyres/bolts (Same fitment between 3200/4200/GS but you do need the right bolts for the different wheel types).

Buyer has all other smaller items but couldn't fit and wasn't interested in a spare set of wheels especially as originals had just been refurbished.

Will stick a post in the sale section once I've reminded myself what they owe me and considered how much I want for them. Wheels are in great condition, arrived recently refurbished with me and I had them on the car for only a few weeks during which the car would have managed perhaps as much as 10 or 20 miles before coming off again!
