New drink driving limit and increased spot checks

Well lads as a petrol head two & four wheels and also the owner of a licenced hotel, I say the only way to go is zero. In fact if as you say they are reducing the limit to 50 mg, it is to all intence a ban. This will only allow less than 1 pint or a large glass of wine. The only reason for allowing any B/A ammount is so you can drive the following day having drunk a sensible ammount the night before with out being nicked stright away.

I've lost two dear friends over the years in RTA's both killed by a dd! I find it totally imoral when people dd but it's impossible to stop a person from doing it.
The only thing one can do is call the police but in a rural area such as ours, they will take at least an hour to get to us if they are not busy.
Can't take their keys etc, could try to make a citizens arrest but that would escalate into a fist fight at least so one is powerless...

They can go and kill them selves but it's the innocent victims that pay the price.

Lets face it people who drink and drive will always drink and drive if it a ban or not....Just hope the idiots get caught before they kill someone.

Reduce yes but how would zero work if you had a just a few drinks the night before and there were very small traces of alcohol the next day? If set at zero how long does it take to clear your system? For that reason I think a lower limit would be most practical.

Personally I wouldn't have more than a half pint or small wine if driving and when I rode the bike I wouldn't take a drop.

I think as discussed that is a real issue...the next day...I'm sure most of us have had a few too many in the evening and driven next day.

I might be good to get some statistics on accidents the morning after a skinful to see what the actual effect is.

Only 3 months, I thought DD was 12 month minimum....that suggest that it is not actually seen as drink driving, but more a special case. It should be full ban or nothing, cant have any grey areas.

It was a long time ago Matt so things may have changed....He tried the 'my car is my living' so not sure if that made a difference.
