i have had some probs with my seat diesel, i have put it up for sale to buy a smart diesel instead and all i been getting in the past week is people coming agreeing a deal then they go do their hpi check and comes back with higher miles

let me tell you, it has a full seat history with all the mots and only 2 owners has 46k now but checks are coming back 106k so its putting off all the customers, i can assure you this car has not had 106k and i bought it from seat themselves

i have googled this issue and it appears a few people have had trouble with the national mileage register but its not on, how do i get it off the register? they dont remove anything on there even if you fax all your evidence

my question is this, WHERE DO THEY GET THAT INFO FROM??!!

they f****** my sale!!

Dem,
Sure there must be many ways of informing/updating the National Mileage Register...
One of them for sure is when a vehicle changes hands and the V5 is sent back to the DVLA,
there is an optional field on the form to enter the current mileage...
It is very easy for someone to enter these details incorrectly,
or for correct entries to be entered into the databse incorrectly...
then of course HPI highlights it as a potential discrepancy...
Unfortunateley, the only thing you can do I think is to provide the info to NMR and then wait for
them to verify it before changing their database.
Very frustrating,
Regards,
Enzo.

Sorry to hear that Dem...
It is good to have a system in place that safeguards potential unscrupulous behaviour,
but it's just plain wrong not to have the capability to change an error...that's so bad,
Regards,
Enzo.

Had a similar problem when selling my QP and they won't accept it from the owner. They did accept the info from Main dealers calling NMR to verify the stamps and mileage recordings on their system though. I spent 3 days chasing dealers and pleading with them to call the specific contact at the NMR who I was dealing with. Got there in the end. Best of luck with it, but that's the only way to do it!

Don't know whether it would work Dem, but do you have a friendly MOT garage that could re-submit your last certificate but with an update to it's current and correct mileage?

Sorry to hear you're having this hassle!

Cheers, Miles.
