Kind of!! Actually collected it from the transport depot on Monday but delivered it straight to my mate with the garage for the Road Worthy Certificate where it's been ever since so very frustrating!!!! Loved the drive to my mate's though....although I think I picked up a speeding ticket in the first 200m of ownership :-( Drove out of the depot, toodling along checking out all the lovely gauges and the leather etc and didn't notice the speed camera van tucked away in the undergrowth!! I reckon I was late-70's in an 80 so quite possibly have the first fine in 5 years!!! Not happy with that but utterly delighted with the car thus far.

I actually pick it up for real tomorrow night (Thursday) and then have a 3-day weekend to register it, wash it, feed the leather and generally gaze in awe at it :) Looking forward to that I can assure you!!!!

Thanks for the interest!!

Cheers

Gary

What an exciting weekend you have ahead , keep us posted , once she's home the curtain twitching starts

We are all twitching here Gary, let's see the pics!! Hope you did not get a ticket in the very first 200 metres, if you did I would contest it, say you were looking at the rev counter and thought that was the speedo "your honour", it was a new car to you!!

Robert I'm not sure a beak would be too accepting of that excuse but as it's all I've got it might be what I have to go with ha ha!! Anyway, onto the first day of ownership.....

I was up at 5.30am like a small child at Christmas – too excited to sleep safe in the knowledge that a Maserati finally resided in my garage. I got to work on the leather. On first glance, the front seats looked nice and clean (the rears are still basically as new, no doubt about that) but once I got to work on the fronts, the dirt came dripping out!! Clearly not been cleaned or fed since she left the UK I'd say. Anyway, they came up a treat and are now fed so are beautifully soft and supple to the touch.

Then the bodywork....the car had been buffed at the last service at Maser/Ferrari in Sydney and whoever their buffer was needs firing immediately! There were patterned swirl marks all over the bonnet and roof that looked terrible in harsh strip lighting – hardly noticeable in normal light but the garage lighting really showed it up. I would suggest that the car has hardly been washed let alone waxed and glossed since it left the UK as it was very hard work to actually wax it properly. My clothes were drenched with sweat by the time I'd finished that task alone and it took ages and ages to get done satisfactorily. After that came the extra gloss polish. All this effort got rid of the swirl marks from the buffing and she now looks even more amazing!
I have to say the sheer hulking, brooding all-powerful presence is intoxicating. Driving her drives me insane with pleasure and I really hope she continues in this vein as I am sooo chuffed with her! I LOVE her!!
I know you've seen them all before but here she is in her current glory...

You have done a nice job there mate. I was going to suggest getting a clay bar kit and redoing all the body work, with anti swirl and wax coats it would come up a treat, but she looks really good, well done.

Thanks guys! Indeed I am very happy with the results. I won't lie - it was time consuming - and I eventually finished at 4pm after starting at 5.30am and did stop for brekkie and lunch along the way but it seems the effort was worthwhile.

Had a great drive with my best mate and fellow Italian car nut today in it - he was simply blown away by everything about it.

I'm currently in car-heaven and long may that feeling last!

You guys with the AC's have an extra exclusive feeling of rarity over there in the UK but over here, Maseratis in general are mega-rare. Here in Brisbane I can't remember seeing another one for months so whilst not a limited edition like your own, still pretty rare in general.

Thanks folks and have a great weekend!

Your car looks stunning Gary, and the excitement in your post is very familiar. These cars have that effect on all of us and now you're getting it also. Nice feeling innit. :D

Thanks for all the nice comments guys, they really make you feel welcome and at home on this forum

I have to say over the years, due to my old job, I've driven quite a wide variety of cars at varying speeds (and owned acouple of nice-ish cars personally) but nothing has even come close to this.

Add in the tradition, heritage and passion and you have a winning combination for sure - as Emtee said, these cars have this effect on us all and I'm so thankful fo that!!!!

Cheers
