So I'm finding out what the old hands knew already - its hard to find the car you want. Having manned up and got over the fact that the fantasy GS in dark green (or blue) with...er COIOS? CIOU? COUSCOUS?...sod it, dark tan leather...doesn't exist, it seems there are hardly any dark blue and back combo's either. Just what was going on in '06 when the world went mad for black or silver and beige? A nice man told me today that it is the fault of the Australians - they pinched the interesting colours combos.
Which leaves the dilemma. Hang on for 'The Car' or move on and get 'A Car'...Don't worry about the outside because you spend 99% of your time on the inside...think about the resale...blah blah. Thing is - I just can't get excited about Grey (just a personal thing - no disrespect to owners of fine grey beasts...). And even if, in relative terms, GS are something of 'a bargain', its still a fair old wedge and I want to have opera going off in my head every time I clap eyes on it. Black...learning to like it. Must try harder.
"You might be in for quite a wait" said the man.
And then someone else called with what was, previously, the dream car: Gen II 997, super spec, good price in....dark green and tan. "No" I say. "Runs really well. I'll bring it over." "No!" "You won't get one like this in a hurry." "Bugger off!" "So you'd like a look then?"
I will not stray. I will not stray. I really want something with 400hp, back seats and interior plastics off an Alfasud...I will not stray.
