Saying that Italians do carry it off with some kind of sophistication ..............bit of envy there

Ah now there is different rule for anywhere outside the UK......Cock meter doesn't really kick in as much as it does in the UK....

Interestingly saw a chap in an SL coming home from work. On his own over 50.....shades on....Arm resting on the door with the hand making random movements outside now and again.....On a scale of 1 to 10 on the clock meter .....It was probably an 8...Now if he had his arm inside it may have dropped to a 6......Further down the road an ageing chap in a mini drop top...baseball cap on.....Initial reaction on the cock meter 8.....but wait.....He had his wife of the same age beside him.......cock meter dropped not needed...dropped to a 2 and only because he was I a Mini drop top.......

That's because we appear to be dictated to by fashion stereo types. In Italy they really can, and do, wear what the like, and on the whole look stunning. There doesn't appear to be the same level of judgement as there is here.

Middle aged me in Siddeley with one of the boys, on our way back from a garden centre a couple of years ago - acting like muppets. The camo was a good tactic.

My Dad saw a motorbike rip a bloke’s arm off when he dangled it out his window. Not sure if he was in a convertible though.

I think it's a good thing to have your own style. At work (not that I expect to return to an office setting anytime soon) I dress smartly, but try to avoid bland grey business suits. People get used to you doing your own thing.

No excuse for being scruffy with cr4p shoes and badly fitting clothes though.

Mate of mine, a biker, had all the skin from his arm ripped off (yes he was is his leathers) by an overtaking car mirror coming the other way. Ended up in a ditch and lost a kidney. Not in the ditch, after they got him to hospital....

Or just lose the concern with other people's opinion. The roof on MY convertible is only raised to keep out the dirt when parked. Sunglasses or specs essential for flying debris protection (including strands of own hair). If you are offended when looking at something , turn away.

Think is I like a big car, I love my 60's and 70's Cadillacs when I was into them, had three, but eventually the general lack of finesse, poor suspension and rust made me give up on them. Later I still want a big car, but with that noise and poise and roadholding, so Maserati QP for me.

The other two of the Italian Holy Trinity, Ferrari and Lamborghini don't do and have never done a genuinely big car, maybe apart from the Ferrari 365/400/412 series, so I don't think Id even be that tempted. The only other similar so-called supercar I like in the same ilk is the Aston Martin Rapide, but even that looks a bit *****. Maybe tho!
