MF v SM post count

Interesting this, I thought I would count up the post count manually on MF since Brian removed their total and I was quite shocked at what I found.

I know we on SM are 'post happy' but I did not know just how much you guys have been posting.

MF was registered on 14 May 2005 making it exactly 6 years old and in that time has amassed a total of 61,212 posts

SM was registered on 23rd Feb 2010 making it just over a year old and in that time has amassed a whopping 93,376 posts

That gives SM an annual post average of 76k and MF an annual post average of 10,200!

I never knew we were that much infront on the post count either, I thought we would be way behind.

Matt....before long we will catch up on Maseratilife, the other European Maserati based/oriented forums, we far exceed their daily activity levels.

Hence my slightly tongue in cheek claim that this forum is THE Maserati forum on the net....simples.......:)

Once again Matt....a big thank you!

.....membership means nothing....its how passionate and interested and active members are...............plus......enjoy the company of fellow Maseratisti and like the social side too.

Sportsmaserati forum is so much more than just a forum.

wow that is interesting, i knew MF had a lot of members but really only 61k posts, thought they would have had 100k as that forum has been around a while.
As Frank has pointed out, SM should catch up with Maserati Life at some point.
Does MF still have regular posters or not?? Matt have you thought about any advertising banners or flags as Auto Italia at Stanford would be a great place to advertise the forum and show how popular it is.

Frank, you know what, we are not far behind them, they are currently on 116,649 and appears to have an October 2003 launch date, making it 7 and a half years old with an annual post count of circa 15,000.

So based on that SM will be the largest database in 4.5 months based on those averages, so roll on the end of September!!!!

Matt, does the forum membership (both here and on MF) include any spammers, or are these caught beforehand?

Do you have a post count since the new ownership over on MF? I get the impression that many MF members have moved over here following the new format, but I don't know whether that's true or not?

Theres a spammers total on the bottom of the forum main page Miles.

Given the very low daily post rate on MF, I'd say majority of the joint members do their main posting on SM.

Its sad to say (for me, anyhow) that MF is in decline. There's some superb knowledge on there, particularly for the older stuff, but this site does seem to have more valuable info on it too. I try to post on both, but its becoming a little tiresome.

As for the post count, if you take out all the bollosk we talk on here, there would be around 2k post a year! LOL!

Woody I would have still been posting on MF but was banned off it a short while before SM was born...............................staying here....just the way I feel.

I would appear the MF has ditched all the spammer so I recon what they have left is genuine. We have had spammer software running for 4 months now and we dont get any more. I have weeded out most of them too, but recon there could still be 5% spammers in our members database.

I dont have any more stats on MF as I simply just counted up the posts in the members section, nothing more cleaver than that.

As for how MF is fairing under the new management, its difficult to gauge. I would say the forum has never really recovered since the split to SM but I would say that wouldn't I. I had a quick look over the road, and they are holding their own, albeit at a low level.

You are quite true in your assessment but in our defence, there is only so much you can discuss on the matter of Maserati, and over the 2 forums, its been pretty much covered. So thus, we find ourselves turning into a social forum which I think is why we have done so well. There are always lots of events and meets and foreign trips.

Tisnt a criticism Matt, just a comment. There is definately a social element on this forum which is to be applauded. I think thats part of the reason sites like PH flourish too.

Its a members forum for members....run and owned by a dedicated Maseratisti.

Social aint much good without all the fixes, help and hints given freely by our more knowledgeable senior members.

The two aspects combined.........with a degree of give and take plus not too many house rules and a greater understanding of members needs and aspirations have made this forum what it is.
