We have a generation that think there are 2 billion different genders, who are offended by the slightest insult and need to go to 'their safe place' to get over it.
Would you like to go to war with them?
I know a few and there mostly useless / moaning. My old saying to them was "You'd be no good in a war" You never know we might well find out!

Amateurs on vacation, firing on auto, send most of their rounds into the air. The guys manning the range,
probably let you do it, for their amusement.

I can tell you how the reserves are being trained. Most of the ones I've seen interviewed, all say the same thing.
That they've had a week or two of weapons and very basic, small unit tactics training.
Even the latest recruits, just picking up weapons and trotting off to the front, will know the most basic concepts.

You almost never use full auto. All soldiers in contact, tend to aim high. No matter what weapon they have.
I would slap the **** out of recruits to emphasise my points. In this situation only, because you don't have the luxury of time. I would tell them that I'd shoot them myself, if I see them breaking the cardinal rules.
Like. Only aim at what you want to kill. Only put your finger on the trigger, when you want to fire a round.
After every engagement, clean your rifle before anything else. There's several others. Don't want to send everyone to sleep.
Recruits have to be more scared of their immediate leaders, than the enemy. Until they can do their skills and drills instinctively.
Single or three shot bursts are much easier to control. One in five / three rounds will be tracer, so you can see where your rounds are going, relative to the target.
The joy of the AK is ....it is simple. Simple to maintain. Simple to use. Children can and do use it. Do you think they complain about the recoil? Do you think that they very quickly learn to grip it, so that rounds aren't going into the stratosphere?

In a war like this. Where most of your 'army' are green volunteers. In every way that matters, the AK is the better choice of weapon. By a country mile.
I guess a lot will depend on how much ammunition has been provided both to the the country as a who;le and to the individuals that are armed? which is best more stopping power or potentially more ammo / suppressive fire? A case can be argued for either even with green or experienced troops.

I would tend to agree that the old AK47 is a good workhorse with plenty of punch, once it gets to close action / urban street fighting maybe the extra ammo makes more sense?

Either way its a crying shame and really shouldnt be happening and feel for those and their families that are actually on the ground from both sides.

I suspect FIBUA is not something the average Russian soldier has trained for.

As for Belarus joining the sh1t show you have to hope they are supremely confident they are backing the derby winner.

No we have a generation of journalists with an agenda who tell you to think that others say that they're a 2 billion genders...

Judging by earlier posts many of the Russian conscript know where they are or what they are doing, never mind fighting Putins war where ever it might be. As for Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko is Putin's Mussolini. The Belarussians already have a desire to hang him upside down.

Looks like the madman has started targeting civilians with rockets and cluster bombs

They're going to need all the help they can get

Here's the link for the red cross in case anyone feels like donating.

Seems that way. Video of some I saw bumbling down a street behind an APC was laughable. No wonder they found themselves in an ambush.

The news this evening talks of a 17mile long Russian convoy on the outskirts of Kiev.

Sounds like a target for a drone attack
There is no doubt about it, Kiev is going to fall and the longer it takes the worse it could be for all. It’s a sad thing to say, but it’s just reality, it will happen. What transpires after that is the question we should be contemplating. It’s possible that once Putin has his puppet government in power the rest of the world will gradually sit back and leave them to it. Or do we continue toward a possible world war. I think right now everyone is looking for a way out. But unfortunately it’s the population of Ukraine who are suffering at present. And if he succeeds what’s next, I really don’t think anyone knows, that’s what is worrying.

Ukrainians are clearly very patriotic. Makes you wonder how many of the sportsmen in our country from the 'Snowflake generation' would do the same if the UK was under a similar attack?
Not just snowflakes.

We need a drone attack on the man himself, his troops are just as much victims as everyone else
That probably would start WW3 , no what's needed is some novichok on the end of an umbrella delivered by an unknown assassin

What we need is some high level Russians to decide that Putin isn't what Russia needs or wants and to remove him and create a government that is interested in a stronger but more fair country (not that it means it has to be westernised) sadly that might be a pipe dream

There are already consequences for comedy

Hull couple want a refund

COMPLAINT FOR THE MANAGER

My husband had a trip planned to Blackpool this weekend and we have got tickets to your (Saturday Night Laughs) show at 7.00 on the date above.

I spoke to someone called Rob (if that’s even his real name) On Facebook texts asking for a refund for our two tickets which we paid IN FULL a few weeks ago.’Due to events in Russia and Ukraine it’s not safe for us to travel as we are both retired. Due to this it’s safer that we stay nearer to home until it’s sorted.

I told Rob that we wanted a refund and he said he would move tickets to another date but I DO NOT want that because I don’t know how long this will go on for. NO ONE KNOWS!!!

He shows me the so called terms and conditions – which I did not read when I booked the tickets a few weeks ago like nobody does and nowhere in them does it say about no refunds FOR A WAR.

As it is not in your so called terms and conditions I am legally allowed a full refund and I will be taking this to trading standards if not refunded in 24 hours. I MEAN IT.

We cannot attend because of things beyond our control so arrange a FULL refund for BOTH tickets to be arranged on the debit card I used to buy the TWO tickets.

We have already lost money on train tickets and our bed and breakfast booking as they say we have just chose to not go but this is just probably everyone in Blackpool sticking together to scam people during a war. DISGUSTING.

You are supposed to be a comedy store but this is NOT funny at all have some respect.

My solicitor WILL be informed and I WILL report you to trading standards if you don’t pay me back within 24 hours.

Yours regards

Now that Putin has declared “you’re either for us or against us” it seems to me the West has 2 choices.
1. Defend Ukraine with troops to back its equipment and immediately accept the EU application as a show of strength.
This risks WWIII and Russia announcing it will default on its global debt.

2. What I think they’ll do is try to distance themselves from Ukraine with as little loss of reputation as possible. I don’t see them risking a global expansion of war- Ukraine will be sacrificed with it being used as a reset and warnings (military expansion) against further incursions into Europe and beyond.

I agree that the EU will ultimately sacrifice at least some Ukrainian territory here and create a stalemate - a la Crimea. It's just not valuable enough to risk ground troops over, not matter what the sentiment is. This will delay the Putin expansion for a while at least. The plus is that the EU is now aware of his intentions, of his information war and of the dangers of being laxed with Russian money. So that buys some time to prepare and get the heads out of the sand.
