The map is just for illustrative purposes. Russian troop numbers on the border with Ukraine
are a multiple of what is shown here.
We only import about 2% of our energy requirements as gas from Russia. Germany imports about 60%.
Tonight the UK is flying anti-tank missiles and training teams to Ukraine but the Germans and French
refused us permission to transit their airspace. Our NATO allies refused us permission to fly through
their airspace.
I haven't been following developments in Ukraine as closely as I'd usually do. However, knowing Putin's
background. Considering the annexation of Crimea and the build-up of Russian forces on Ukraine's border
as well as the composition of those forces. If I had to bet. I'd guestimate that it's 70/30 that the Russians
will invade within the next seven days. Preceded by a major cyber attack on the country's infrastructure.
Especially it's communications. This is taking place already. And possibly preceded by a calculated incident
upon which to justify invasion.
The West has already indicated that it will not respond militarily. I believe the high gas prices ensure that
Russia can afford the cost of the war as well as the increased economic sanctions that will follow.
I believe that the decision has already been taken to invade. Subject to achievement of the asymmetric
goals necessary to widen the divisions within NATO, knock out targeted infrastructure and provide the
casus bellie for invasion. According to the Ukrainian Ambassador in London tonight, Russian forces now almost
surround Ukraine, from Belarus to the Crimea.
I also predict a run on toilet rolls. Especially in Whitehall, Northwood and Downing Street

I believe Putin when he says be doesn't want an all out war. Just a little Barney and maybe a new Russian Black Sea resort with a nice newly built palace that of course doesn't belong to him.

Russia will take everything to the east of the Dnieper and say that "this is historic Russian land".

NATO not wanting war will let him.

I guess they denied us air travel as it’s soon to become the Federation of FrancoGermania. Previously Europe. Soon to be west Russia.

This surely illustrates that NATO is more or less toothless? I thought Ukraine was in NATO, which is a defence alliance, and are we not all meant to defend each other in times of threat. If that does not happen might as well close the doors, waste of time surely. I mean I don't want a war, but it just seems like NATO are more or less saying its ok to just take Ukraine.

I don't think Hitler wanted an all out war , he just wanted the land without a fight

Ukraine isn’t in NATO. And that’s kind of what this is about. Russia doesn’t want Ukraine to join NATO, are annoyed that Ukraine has gone from having a Russia centric government to ones which have courted NATO membership.

If they were members then Russia probably wouldn’t be being as aggressive and there would be an obligation to defend them.

I know some may desire to be back in the early portion of the 20th Centurty but total war is rather inconceivable in this day and age, particularly between polarised powers... a wee little war is a great way to fuel an economic recovery, especially when you are an arms producing country like the UK. Once the war is over and the dust settles you can go in and make more money by helping them rebuild by offering your non-weapons producing services...
