Hi all,
I felt the need to put a few points straight about people who are ill informed or just plain ignorrant as to what a Maserati Retailer can do as opposed to what Maserati independent can do.
I believe this represents all us Maserati independent repair centres that spend alot of time and money supporting this brand.
Point 1 - Maserati Dealers are NOT the only garages that can fix your Maserati properly. This is complete and utter rubbish and is contrary to the 2002 european block exemption legistration of offering consumers a choice.
Point 2 - Maserati tooling - it is a criminal and prosecutable offence to not offer for general sale, workshop tooling that is available to any Maserati retailers themselves, it again goes against the 2002 european block exemption ruling. What i must add though, it is the indepentdents choice on what tooling he chooses to purchase and use.
Point 3 - Technical Information - under the block exemption ruling any repair centre must be allowed to access technical information, which can be charged for, giving the information to repair one of their vehicles, as the manufacturer expects for that repair operation. I must add the manufacturer does the reserve the right to protect security information, however have a process to deal with such enquiries.
Point 4 - Maserati Diagnosi/Maserati Diagnostic equipment - Any specialist will tell you that the right equipment and the correct way to use is key to fixing a Maserati. Without this diagnostic equipment you are just not going to offer the right repair to the vehicle. But i MUST emphasize the the Maserati diagnosi is the same tester as the Maserati retailers use as any independent repair specialist who has one. The only difference i am aware of is simply access to the warranty system MODUS. Otherwise it does exactly the same job at fixing, programming, guiding, access to workshop manuals as a retailer Diagnosi.
Point 5 - Maserati technical training - the 2002 block exemption ruling states quiet clearlty that a vehicle Manfacturer must make all its course's (technical or otherwise) publically available to the industry, which means any training a dealer does with Maserati is also available to any Maserati independent.
Point 6 - Maserati independents historically offer a better level of service, greater value, more honest and generally are smaller, which means you get the chance to meet the person fixing your car. In addition, they can offer alternative parts that are supplied by the component manufacturer at significantly reduced prices, helping keep your cost of ownership down. .
Nothing annoys me more than when a poorly informed or ignorrant person believes that us independent repairers just have a bash at fixing cars and don't have the equipment or resources to fix these cars correctly. You would not believe how many disgruntled clients come through my door having been to a dealer and totally disappointed with what a dealer has said or done.
I believe i represent any true Maserati specialist, in that what we offer totally exceeds what most of the Maserati network offers, and maybe they should actually see what us independents do with the service we provide and the way we deal with clients, the huge sums of money we spend on buying parts and the huge efforts us independents go to to keep these cars on the road.
I have had recently comments made that a proper fix is to go to a dealer, which is the most utter nonsense, but also can be costly to us independents from that person by spreading those comments when so poorly informed. My suggestion is, if you have not experienced a Maserati independent, that you should try and you maybe presently surprised with the service, the cost and the customer care you recieve.
I believe my rant is over
