Never sailed but willing to help tie knots, splice mainbraces and shiver timbers or whatever needs to be done!

Nice. Looks very like a Bruce Farr design (I've raced in my past a Farr with some success) where are you based?

Cheers

Based in Poole Dorset at The Poole Yacht Club and it's a 40 foot X Yacht designed by Jepherson and built in Denmark.
From Poole to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight takes about 3 hrs max so leave Poole at around 9am on a Saturday in April, get to Yarmouth for a few beers and sail back for Fish and Chips on the Old Quay at Poole.

I'll post directions etc etc nearer the time but the more the merrier and there are plenty of travel lodges around incase we want to turn it into a party.

Att. view from 3/4 way up the mast.

Ooh err I have never known anyone keep a camera up their backside before!!!

Racing out of Cherbourg sounds interesting............................Have you done the Tour de Finnesterre?

I campaigned an X362 for a number of years before I joined the HOD35

No but we won the Credit Agricole Bank Cup and the France Blue Trophy in the Tours des Ports Grand Prix. The X 362 is a popular class but I have no personal experience with them on the other hand the Hod35 has over the years given us the odd problem. I had an X99 called 'XS' which we campaigned very successfully until we hit the submerged boiler of the wreck off the Needles and stuffed the keel back into the sail drive whilst planning at 16knots. The same day Alexa, another X99, was cut in half by a boat called Starlight. Windy day that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and a busy one for the Lifeboat.

On my photographic skills you can imagine the exposure is automatic but you have to use whatever is dangling to work the shutter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The XS incident seems familia, so does the boat or it's reputation..........we split the rudder in half vertically doing the same thing on the X362......................Kite up and we dropped down a swell; just skimmed the boiler with the keel, missed the sail drive and sheered the rudder blade! actually surpising little damage but we went home to be safe!
