Below is a review from the archives of Men and Motors. This is the review anyone considering a 4200 should be persuaded by and not the one given by that Maserati hating idiot Clarkson who just could not see that the it was a GT rather than an all out sports car like say a Ferrari or Lambo. Anyways enjoy - This road test is spot on

Found this one as well..enjoy

It must have been an early spyder, as Hammond names it a 3200 spyder, instead of 4200. Remember the spyder was launched before the coupe.

All good stuff, apart from Hammond calling it a 3200 Spyder and this german site also calling it a 3200GT Spyder..?? Hang it it has 4200 engine and 4200 rear lights, do they know what they are doing..??

Not sure if it is a mistake of Hammond or Maserati. That's what i tried to describe: I have read that the lack of a convertible car on 3200 days made them call 3200 spyder in the very early days.

Some pre production cars maybe before the official name was released..?

First bloke said the interior was all leather, and you needed to go into reverse before first. What was that about?

I noticed that, somebody must have told him to do that, having a laugh I suppose, or it was really a prototype and they had not got the g/box quite right by then..??

I really love the Spyder and this review even if it does sound a bit wooden and dated. I really cannot understand why the prices don't hold up better than they do but one day I have no doubt they will command a substantial premium over the coupe

De Tomasa Mangusta......There is a blast from the past and a car that never really made any impac t. Remember seeing it at a Motorshow when it came out and really liked it............Didn't it end up being being bought by MG and was turned into the Xpower SV..?
